Killteam Insights: Exaction Squad

Hey everyone. This is a culmination of my experience playing Exaction squad for 10 games of killteam. Some team review stuff and a couple things to look out for. All my games were played just before the December balance dataslate. I do mention some of the changes although I have yet to put them into action. Kroot will be next to get the 10 games as series. The Aquila does stay but loses all abilities when the Proctor dies. This wasn’t figured out until much after this video was published. Sorry for the mistake!

I'm not sure why that is. Looking at the wording for the Shrive Talon's Grisly Trophy, people seem to play that that stays active but the Aquilla goes offline.

@@johntailby74 yeah it’s because the part that affects the table is listen as the Proctor’s ability. The action to deploy the Aquila is separate from its affect. Where grizzly trophy says our a token down that token does this effect forever. It’s weird. Easiest way to think about it is the Trophy scares people. Where the Aquila is just projecting what the proctor says. And if he is dead it’s not saying anything.

I thought the use of the Revalatum’s ability to reveal a target and then run back to the gunners was brilliant. Combined with terminal decree or the Malocator ability your gunners suddenly do much better against hard targets.

I am going to start playing kt for the first time and the adeptus arbitis looked the coolest for me. I know i should get two boxes but for the meantime with one box i was planning on building this: 1 leader with shield and baton 3 subductors 1 vox 1 castigator 1 gunner (i was thinking about the stubber because it looks cool although i also like the granade launcher) 1 leashmaster 1 doggo (i don't have a choice with these two) 1 revelatum 1 malocator Is this a good starting point? Like a good way of understanding the team and having kinda solid matchup against everything

Stubber or Marksman are the options I would go with for the Gunner. Either or. These will give you solid options into the field overall

Hey, did they FAQ the Lokatr? My understanding is that because the Revelatum forward deploy happens after initiative in TP1 it is unaffected by the Lokatr's ability, since it's not during Set Up Operatives.

"in addition, enemy operatives cannot move before the battle begins." I don't know when this FAQ got put in place but its there if you check under Hearthkyn on Warcom.

NRBH, but I thought the text of first in the field circumvented this, and is the only instance that does, because it occurs after the firefight phase begins.

It occurs in the initiative phase which is before both the target reveal and firefight phases. I don’t know what the right answer is. I’ve seen it argued both ways.

​@@obeseapeYou are correct. It happens at the end of the initiative step of the first firefight phase, which is after the battle has begun.

Very good video. What's your thoughts on Blades of Khaine or Void Dancers match ups?

I don't know enough about blades yet to make a determination. The VDancer match up is a little better. You need shields since it mean's they cant just murdurous entrance you. Also if you get forced to parry you parry 2 so it's not the worst thing in the world. Being able to threaten early with the Krak Revelatum is great. Need to take advantage of it. If you can make it 11 v 7 instead of 11 v 8 you can really pour some pressure on. Also your leader becomes a power house. Expect him to eat fusion since no VD player will want to charge him. Pick an objective to threaten tp1 with the revelatum but don't expose yourself to a move dash shoot. The revelatum isn't quite tanky enoough to eat a plasma grenade or even shuriken pistol.

I think this team does well into 8 wound teams with all the damage 4 weapons. I also think you want your operatives in pairs like cop partners, 3 shields partnered with shotguns, revalatum with sniper, dog and handler, and a spare.
