I was raised on the comic genius of George Carlin and in turn, raised my Daughter with the same comic influence and taught her of the legend of "Uncle George". Got to meet the Man twice at shows in San Diego at "Humphreys By The Bay". Super cool dude. I watched as others stepped up to greet him and of course, they all had to say some humorous line that George wrote. I realized how ridiculous it was to do such a thing so I just shook his hand and said, "Hello Mr. Carlin. It's absolute honor to meet you." After a short 4 to 5 minute conversation, he ended with, "Don't ever lose your sense of humor." Words to live by. I have made it my life's goal to be Carlin's ghost and to carry that with me throughout my life in the hope of keeping his memory alive and to distribute his thoughts and ideas as I go along. He was the Master of words and language. RIP, Uncle George. You will always be the Greatest of all time. 😎👍

Tom Waits had a similar approach in his song “Step Right Up”: Step right up, step right up, step right up, Everyone's a winner, bargains galore That's right, you too can be the proud owner Of the quality goes in before the name goes on One-tenth of a dollar, one-tenth of a dollar, we got service after sales You need perfume? we got perfume, how 'bout an engagement ring? Something for the little lady, something for the little lady, Something for the little lady, hmm Three for a dollar We got a year-end clearance, we got a white sale And a smoke-damaged furniture, you can drive it away today Act now, act now, and receive as our gift, our gift to you They come in all colors, one size fits all No muss, no fuss, no spills, you're tired of kitchen drudgery Everything must go, going out of business, going out of business Going out of business sale Fifty percent off original retail price, skip the middle man Don't settle for less How do we do it? how do we do it? volume, volume, turn up the volume Now you've heard it advertised, don't hesitate Don't be caught with your drawers down, Don't be caught with your drawers down You can step right up, step right up…. And so on. www.google.com/search?q=step+right+up+lyrics+tom+waits&rlz=1C1EODB_enUS585US601&oq=step+right+up+lyrics+tom+&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0j69i64.14271j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

sho_1uv, actually Hurley is not wrong. the 1600's were still ripe with slavery in every known country across the globe, it was even used in Africa itself by several rival tribes (even till this day by the militias there). the only countries that were somewhat against slavery, but big on indentured servant-ism were Ireland, Japan, French-ruled districts of what is now known as Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Germany. virtually every other country either used slaves, or was used as a marketing hub for them, grounds for capturing/ kidnapping people for the slave trade, or were conquered in some petty war or conquest and had its populations captured and sold as slaves. like it or not, human trafficking was big during that time-period, and though it's diminished greatly, its still practiced by several underground groups these days within the criminal element.

George left us over 14 years ago. As of today there isn’t anyone close to his observations. All comics have a space in their careers where things come together. George had his low points as well. But when he got it right no comedian has been close. The majority of George’s work didn’t insult us. He did do some pathetic fart jokes. It also seems some comedians have two acts to choose from. People seem to laugh more and easier when you have alcohol in you. This is the reason that many shows enforce a two drink minimum. COME BACK TO THE STAGE GEORGE, WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THEN EVER!

I really like this comment. My take on common sense is that it was common sense a long time ago when there was still some critical thinking in the world. Example, there was a time when people didn't need to be told it was a bad idea to try and take a selfie while trying to teabag a great white shark or piss on an electric fence while doused in petrol. In the time we live in the uncommon sense is where you want to be because then at least you have any kind of remnant of sense as opposed to none at all

Citizen of the Republic marketing is simply the principle of getting your product known and convincing people to buy it. If you product *will* make people's lives better, or make them feel good, what is unethical is to *not* market it. Just like a shovel, you can use it to kill or you can use it to build. What matters is what you do with it (just so happens most use it to sell bullshit rather than make you happy) If doctors and scientists were bad salesmen no one would ever get healed.

Only certain people trust the government. But there's a group of us that knows they are a bunch of bs but they use their power against black people so white people live them for that not knowing that the government is against them too. But they like seeing the government do what they are doing so they keep their eyes and mouths closed. This country is going down in a hurry and guess who will be the blame for it???

Eddie Murphy, who I consider the most natural and one of the best comedians of all time, said that in his opinion George Carlin was the funniest of all comedians ever! I agree with Mr Murphy.

Very underrated set. Maybe in his top five. A blend of different types of George (funny, political/business critic, religious critic). Pure legendary comedy.

eeeeh. he was a bitter jaded man with a lot of frustrations related to how heart renchingly soul rending the world was turning toxic. At least in his view. Unfortunatly comedy stages were one of the few veniews left him. It was comedy in the in the court joker sense. the person who knows the only safeway for him to say what he needs, is as comedias, to illuminate. Not reely thinking mans stand up, or stand up at all. a very frustrated recovering addict having to stay busy is more like it.
