The highly reflective dashboard on the EV3 is only temporary. It’s because they have a peelable plastic on top of them to keep the screen clean when so many people are looking at them, sticky fingers etc. I have seen exactly the same thing on the EV3 demo in S. Korea and they peeled the plastic film back to reveal a very non-reflective dashboard underneath.

Thanks guys, always good work and fun. That cheaper BYD Dolphin is more in the range of the Citroën ë-C3 Max. About the same range, but the Max has the stronger motor, is cheaper, and my guess, the ë-C3 Max brings more comfort to the table. The new EV Hyundai Inster has specially folding seats to accommodate a large bed.

Guys, legacy brand dealers don’t want to sell EVs because they make their money on servicing cars, not selling them! And EVs barely need servicing, so every EV sold pushes dealers further out of business.

Having worked as a background extra for many years in TV and film, probably the reason Tom's spotted the same Kia (Optima?) police car in various shows is that Production companies hire the cars from only a small number of bespoke suppliers who buy, livery-up, then hire out their 'Police' cars to such TV productions. 📽 🚨 🎥

On the subject of EVs on camera, can I recommend Good Omens II. Many of the street scenes outside the bookshop feature the same cars going back and fourth , from memory an ID3, an EUp, a Zoe and IPace. I’m assuming the in-studio production meant no tail pipe emissions was a real benefit.

A fun KHH, thank you. It strikes me you are well placed to collect data about how we use cars, or use cases. Manufacturers can only collect this data for their brands. Many households have use cases across more than one brand. In the EV world compared with the ICE prices for filling up vary wildly and opportunities for filling up at home or publicly vary wildly too. So some kind of database of use cases and what works would be useful. It would be much better than the journalistic shorthand you use for “city cars” with small batteries and “range” for some guzzling investment in hugely heavy and expensive Li. Collecting data on use cases would also be something quite a lot of businesses would buy back from you. £££.

I had an initial fairly long list of cars to look at from dealers (coming up for end of current lease). I really struggled to find a dealer that even had an electric car in the showroom let alone one for a test drive. When I asked, most of the sales people fobbed me off saying that they were hoping to get one in later in the year. The only exceptions were BMW, Polestar, KIA and Genesis. It has been very frustrating. I can only assume that they don't get much commission selling EVs.

Q: Over the summer I was visiting my dad in Nottingham, and looking at lease deals as his current lease on a leaf is coming to an end. He loves the leaf, but wants something with a bit more range and a bit more boot space. I wondered if he might end up moving back to an ICE car, but he loves some of the perks of owning an EV, including in Nottingham a bus lane on a busy section of road that EVs are allowed to use, which allows him to drive past lots of queuing cars with a nice grin on his face. This set me thinking, with EV financial incentives currently being unavailable, what other ingenious free or low cost initiatives have anyone come across to temps motorists away from ICE cars and improve air quality in large cities?

I love the fact that European cities like Paris, Italy and Rome have little ami’s driving around. I’ve just got my Ami back from the dealers. Careé (name) suddenly stopped on a roundabout and RAC got a breakdown truck to pick her up and dealer had her for 4 months. Drive motor, fuse box and finally a new traction battery later, she was good to go. Not. Great experience really from Citroën. Took them too long to approve the parts under warranty. Dealer hadn’t seen an Ami before so lack of knowledge too!!! Anyway, back in my little car 🚙 again.

Like Tom I’ve found that dealerships don’t have Electric demonstrators atm. Redoing a 2 yr business lease has been a bit of a pain. Stuck between Kona EV N Line S or a face-lifted ID3 Pro S 77kw (which one would guys or any owners out there have/recommend? Oh, and does the New ID3 have Blindspot… different VW dealers we convinced it does but then other adamant it was removed due to the chip shortage ) I have 3 local Glasgow VW dealerships & no one can source me an ID3 to testdrive. Also feel there’s no real urgency when I mention on the forecourt that I need an EV lease. It’s been a very odd experience, I can only surmise that the dealers don’t get as much commission on EV’s or something. Also why is leasing direct from local dealerships so much more expensive, compared to leasing sites online? Some time it’s very nearly double the monthly. Sorry to rant 😂 Cheers, loving the show/channel 🎉 More in Car eps please!

Sadly I think due to EVs and ICE still costing so much new, 60m PCP deals are needed, as most leases come with at least a 6m deposit which and less than the average year mileage allowance. A lot of people still have fear over the costs of coming out of lease deals either due to early leaving fees or repair fees for what is actually wear and tear and normal use that you don't have to pay for when handing cars back on PCP.

I wonder if Vauxhall are thinking along the same lines of VW in that they want the majority of cars leased throughout their lifetimes in the future and by dumping cars on the market now, that increases the lease prices of better 2nd/3rd/4th generation EVs in the future by increasing the amount that must be financed by lowering predicted resale values of those cars. Ie larger gap between retail and future resale means more to finance and more 48/60/72 month finance deals where they can make profit instead of making profit on spares and repairs as they would with ICE cars today

VW group sell their cars (or at least EVs) on an agency basis. You do the deal with VW and the dealer just checks the paper work and hands the car over. I have no idea where there is a reward for good service in that model. Earlier in the year I tried to by an in stock car from Lookers before the end of my financial year and they were very relaxed about returning my calls, and going on holiday with no-one else progressing the order. Now (tomorrow) I am picking one up from Garland in Aldershot. Where their service has been fine, calling me every Friday to update me on the order.

It’s good that Mike has got Ginny a better webcam but she needs to work on the set up too. Never mind the paint patch, in one episode she looked like she might be naked and the large microphone was all that was preserving her modesty. In another the framing was so tight it appeared that when she stroked her chin and hair that a disembodied hand was doing it. Lastly she was wearing a dark top on a dark background which gave the illusion that she was literally a ‘talking head’! All very amusing but I’m sure she can put that camera to good use…. which doesn’t mean just shoving it with the other junk into the back of her Skoda Enyaq !😂😂

The knowledge of EV's at main dealership's is patchy at best. EV's are like mobile phones in that newer, better and more efficient EV's are coming out less than every 18 months especially from Chinese manufacturers who are relentless in bringing out new products and are now setting up business in the UK. Its a confused strategy from some like Mercedes who are dropping the EQ range and dont even mention the likes of Ford and Vauxhall 😂

I had the same buying experience at a VW dealer we had used for years when looking at changing my Tiguan for a ID4. Hopeless. No demo available at a weekend (Manager's car did not work weekends !) so organised for 5:30pm Friday. Arrived and after 20mins messing about they told me he had gone home ! I have a Volvo now and sent a letter to their group CEO. Crazy. The most expensive car they were selling and just did not care. The supermarkets giving 7kW charging are pretty useless. I used to use the Free Tesco ones and even a 2hr max charge only give us enough to drive there and back. Is the EV3 any good ?
