I can see that she took some parts of Samantha in this interview which she no longer does in her much recent interviews. I'd say, she had to portray herself as Samantha when she went public like this to strengthen her character's "sex symbol status" in the series. That's probably an executive decision rather than her personal preference.

For the first series (or maybe even only half a series... I can't remember) he had a sort of sidekick (think Paul Shaffer on Letterman) who would be there for Ross to banter with between guests. I assume they dropped it because he already had the other four on the piano and the extra personality was just deadweight. Now that's what I call living in the information age where you can ask a question and just like that 11 months later you get an answer.
