This series surprised me with how great it is with just 1 season! The emotional rollercoaster was enjoyed! I will eventually watch season 2 just not sure when that will be is all. I’ll try to explain his name change . His name in Japanese is written as Kimura Tatsuya (木村達也), and he did retire. Kimura’s first name is Tatsuya, originally written in kanji as "達也," but now he writes it in katakana as "タツヤ." So, he retired as 木村達也 but came back as a new boxer with the same name, just written differently. Now, he is 木村タツヤ instead of 木村達也. He probably did this to give himself a fresh start and restart his boxing career. It probably won’t make sense from the English language point of view since we just use one lettering system as opposed to Japanese which has 3 (hiragana, Katakana, and kanji) My guess for the English equivalent would be something like him changing his name from tatsuya to tatsuyah in English lol
@HakeemRDaud2 ай бұрын
Also katakana is used for a foreign word. Wanpo is written in katakana because it sounds like 1po in english (One-po). The word Ippo mean 1/first step. So they both have the same name if that make sense
@adog7282 ай бұрын
@@HakeemRDaud I didn’t know that lol. I thought ワン is an onomatopoeia for barking and he just combined it with po to make a mixture of the two words

this is the peak of the peaks, I find that this ova has everything, emotion, comedy, sadness, it is almost everything perfect, the atmosphere, the direction, the seiyus, the well placed ost, the one who does not cry in this OVA has no heart, without counting all the heart that put the great Keiji Fujiwara as the voice of kimura, may he rest in peace.

When Shinoda-san says "It's all over now. You did great." And Kimura replies with "It's over?" It feels like Kimura isn't referring to the match, like Shinoda-san. He's referring to that chapter of his life.

Like he said though, he refuses to watch anything through some illegal or shady way, its just how he does things on the channel. Maybe if one of his trusted patrons downloads the episodes from somewhere high-quality he can watch it that way and react to it sooner. Otherwise, we just going to be here, waiting. Its all good.

This is still one of my favorite fights in the series, and the anime did an especially wonderful job with the animation and the fantastic voice acting. Kimura is very relatable, and you didn't really know if he'll win or lose. While Ippo has lost before you kind of go into the match thinking he'll find a way to win, and you expect Takamura to win no matter what. Aoki and Kimura are different in that regard but Kimura in particular feels so relatable as he's not so over the top like Aoki. He's the ultimate underdog in the series, and this ova did a great job showing it.

Knowing where the story is right now in the manga, it’s crazy to look back at this. And it’s so unfortunate that you’ll stop watching Hajime no Ippo because I’ve enjoyed your reactions so much and this is like a rewatch of this great show. And believe me, the show is going to be more and more insane and emotional as you keep progressing. But hey, you have your own standards and ways that you do your work, so I respect that. And I’m not here only for Ippo, I’ve watched many of your series reactions, but the thing is that I will only watch reactions to the shows that I’ve already watched, because I want to watch and enjoy the shows for myself for the first time. I sincerely hope that you’ll continue this series, but either way good luck brother and a great reaction as always!

I really hope the source that fueled the decision to not cover season 2 was not bitterness for the very demanding, brash, out of pocket, pushy side of the Hajime no Ippo community, because i've been noticing how much those comments have been getting to Lax.. Those comments were not cool, but i've also had the impression and have actually seen that the disturbers of peace in the community, at times have also been people with good intentions that come off as pretentious, and that makes it troublesome but i guess part of the process.. i know this can come off as rude, but i believe i speak out of respect; i wish for Lax to loosen up a bit for his own good and i'm not saying it in the "finger-wagging" sort of way, i can imagine that behaviour is indicative of personal issues and i can only imagine how difficult it is to handle the good, bad and the ugly, but probably necessary- bla bla bla.. look man i was probably wrong about everything, i'm just bothered we are not eating the Takamura World Title fight, but i guess also have a lot to be happy with, we were screeching for this one, right, and Lax mentions multiple times he kinda went out of his way since movies aren't his cup of tea, regardless i'm happy Lax, thank you for your reactions Sir! --- And now my ass is writing after watching the whole thing this is a top 3 reaction for me, LOVE IT! The begging "pleasehitpleasehitpleasehit" i'm DONE!😂
