Billie Kemper I’ve learned to only buy in outfits. Or single items I know I need. And I keep a list on my phone of what I’m looking for, including the style and color. I’ve also worked out the colors I want in my closet so I only buy those. I know what styles i like and what looks good on me, so that saves lots of time in the aisles. I have favorite stores due to their lighting in the fitting rooms and ambience in the stores. Hope that helps to start you off. I still am always watching these vids tho!

Hi Kim just found your site and I think it's brilliant. Everything you said made sense especially the sizing . I live in the UK and we have the same problem with sizes , one time I'm a size 12 or 14 and one dress was a size 16 I was mortified but it fitted me so bought it. I'm a lady the wrong side of 60 but I love to look good, not mutton dressed as lamb though lol. I've been told I don't look my age , I'm 70 but still 30 in my head. The basics are brilliant. Could you possibly do a video for the more mature ladies. Even though I'm older I still like to look nice. Thanks again and keep up the good work

Amazing video! So on point. One piece of advice I have (since you asked us to share! haha), and I’ve been guilty of this too in the past, is when people don’t wear the right colors for their color palette. I have dark brown hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. The colors that someone with blonde hair, green eyes, and a darker complexion wears may look incredible on them, but not so much on me. It may just be my eye, but it’s something so important that I think a lot of people miss when picking out clothes... and makeup, hair, and jewelry for that matter, haha.
@KimXO4 жыл бұрын
Very true! Thanks for sharing! The tip I give people is think about what colour you get compliments in the most...that’s probably your palette. Lots of people really don’t know!

I think it might be more clear if you said “don’t always choose by your size number”. Sizes are meaningless nowadays, brands deviate so much from the “standard” sizes set in the 20th C US, vanity sizing is everywhere, then Asian sizing adds more confusion. I wear everything from a small/petite, or 6 short (US) to an extra-large, long (Asian), with probably most clothes around medium to large, so I always go by my measurements. I measure about every 3 months, or more often if my weight changes, and write the measurements down in my little style notebook.

Some more structured pieces, like blazers, might be made primarily of washable fabrics, but have some detail (usually interfacings, stiffeners or linings) that aren’t washable. So, if these are washed, these parts will shrink, pucker, or stretch, etc., ruining the garment. Fiber content isn’t everything, structural parts are really important, too. I’m really mad because I just bought a “final sale” linen blazer. It did say “dry clean” in the inline description, but they “forgot” to mention the “don’t iron” part on the garment label. Linen that can’t be ironed, really? I won’t buy that brand again - J. Crew Factory.

I’ve tried the razor trick and it does not work. It actually makes the pillage worse. I wish fashion gurus would stop suggesting it as solution to fuzzy sweaters. I am still searching for an answer to this problem. I’ve had to toss too many sweaters.
@KimXO6 жыл бұрын
I’ve used it many times and it definitely does work, but perhaps it’s the type of blend that’s in the sweater that effects the results. There is a sweater comb at most Bed Bath and Beyond or stores like that too, I have one that’s great!
@annarehbinder75406 жыл бұрын
If you use a Razor you need the right angle but it is easier with a small de- piller ( can normally buy in shoeshops, homehoods etc ) but the easiest de- piller is avoiding acrylic because it Will always pill and that goes for many but not all synthetics and this means that if you buy synthetics you Will to have to on a Daily basis handle pilling . My tip - thrift!
