Not sure if Colin would want to do this, but it might be cool for him to do some videos about each presidential candidate and talk about their platforms and whatnot. I know I can go other places to get that information, but the way Colin delivers it is much better in my opinion.

***** This will be the only reply I'll make to this thread because I realize it could go round and round... If Colin isn't qualified to talk about politics, especially with his vast knowledge of the subject combined with his passion and reverence for history, then I don't know who is. And if he can get through to more people and get them out to vote, then I don't see how that's even remotely a bad thing.

Regarding the hand clench that politicians do: Bob Dole was always holding a pencil because his hand naturally clenched into a fist due to a war injury. Focus testers for his campaign said it looked odd for him to be waving around a fist, so they put a pencil in it. Not kidding. But, yeah, Nick is totally right that it is suggested that you try not to point.

Fact: there is no major health difference between HFCS and cane sugar. It all gets broken down into fructose and glucose. Sucrose, AKA: table sugar and cane sugar, is 1 part glucose and 1 part fructose. HFCS is 55% fructose and 45% glucose.

I'm sorry to be bombarding you guys, but I've become a huge Sopranos fan after watching the seasons for the fifth time. David Chase came out and flat-out said that the whole point is wrapped up in the Journey song. Tony is a lonely boy born (they downed the audio for "South Detroit" just because Tony is from Jersey) and Carmela is just a lonely girl from a lonely world. They both took the, "midnight train going anywhere," which is a euphemism for running from problems, trying to start again, and taking a blind-luck leap of faith. All of which fits the family to varying degrees. The one thing about the season finale that I really fucking love (hold on to your shit-eating hats), is the story of fucking Paulie Walnuts. In Season 1 or 2 Christopher talks to Paulie about writing a script and about how all great characters have an arc. And Paulie tells Christopher that in real life, there is no character arc. Stuff just happens and people go on doing what they always do. And all the characters have character arcs, except for fucking Paulie. The last scene is him with that cat that he thinks is a bad omen. And that's it. No conclusion, no arc, no finale. That's some meta shit. Sopranos ending is way deep. Deep like the motherfucking ocean. Not even Quasimodo could have predicted that shit.

Do not care what anyone else's opinion is, The Sopranos ending is hands down one of the best endings in any form of storytelling. I love the fact it left it open to interpretation. The best TV show made still... with Mad Men a very close second. Breaking Bad was overated but still a damn fine show.

I understand the necessity of an electoral college, but why does it have to be all or nothing for a state? Why can't each state only have an electoral vote per congressional district (instead of that plus 2) and let the people of the district decide on what their electoral vote should be? Wouldn't that still protect the smaller states whilst more accurately representing the will of the people? Colin says that Texas and California would have complete control of the elections; but as it stands, is it better that swing states have complete control of the election and communities with contradictory values to their state (i.e. Orange County in CA or Austin in TX) don't get their voices heard?
@xwingvmanx9 жыл бұрын
In regards to political topic, I don't think this election will change the way Colin is hoping, but I definitely think the next election will be a change up as the way the younger generations are getting their information. For example, I want Colin to have a political show during the elections, would much rather get my info from him. And it is not that I go with whatever Colin says, but he brings things up I did not know about otherwise and that then gets me to go find out more about it myself. Going to research the two candidates now that Colin was so hyped about.

I never noticed the difference in colas as a kid and liked anything, especially cheap cokes like RC, Check, Sam's Choice, or Faygo. Now I prefer Pepsi over Coke due to Coke being too sweet or something compared to Pepsi and hate Sam's Choice and Check. I now really enjoy the off brand Mountain Dew products, since I have never tasted a bad off brand of that flavor yet, over everything even though I didn't like Mountain Dew as a kid.

Hey so just a little nerdy background science on high fructose corn syrup and sweeteners it's been a few years since my nutrition classes in college, but from what I remember high fructose corn syrup is actually roughly 50% fructose and glucose which is essentially the composition of sucrose (table sugar), but there has been research claiming we metabolize it differently with harmful consequences, although many of the studies focused more on the effect of diets high in fructose instead of comparing equal amounts of HFCS vs sucrose. Artificial sweeteners are artificially created sugars that we can't digest hence the 0 calories and the only research that has shown them to cause cancer was using unrealistic amounts of them on mice/rats, but some people are allergic or sensitive to phenylalanine, an amino acid found in some artificial sweeteners (aspartame), and that can cause serious issues for people who have a condition called PKU where it can cause mental retardation as well as other issues although I believe most of the developmental issues affect people in the early stages of life (unborn-->early childhood). For people who are only sensitive it will just cause headaches or uneasy stomachs.
@thumbeleennaa9 жыл бұрын
Andrew Chida Thanks for this. Colin probably deliberately skipped the whole environmental effects of farming corn -- basically depleting all soil resources moreso than any other crop. Tasty, yet deadly--my sort of vegetable?

Oh god damnit. Nick Scarpino just said, "Any time you're ingesting something into your body that's been chemically made, it can't be good for you." No. Natural sugar is biochemically made. Everything you've ever eaten is a chemical made from other chemicals. You have literally no idea what you're talking about. The only difference between a byproduct and a product is which is intended to be made. If they're trying to make high fructose corn syrup, it's by definition not a byproduct. This says nothing about the safety of the molecule. They can't get the FDA to test aspartame because it's so new? It was approved by the FDA in 1981. The CDC tested it and found nothing wrong in 1984. FDA officials have described it as "one of the most thoroughly tested and studied food additives the agency has ever approved." Please stop this bullshit chemophobia propaganda..This is literally the first thing I've had issues about things you guys have said.
@prizefighter76079 жыл бұрын
+Philip Olivares The details of what he's saying might not be wholly accurate, but what he's saying is correct. A diet with artificially manufactured syrup, i.e. corn syrup, is far worse for you than a diet of natural sugars.

If I vote Republican in the general election but the Democrats win the state, then my vote is worthless. The electoral college grants more power to larger states and gives less to the smaller states. A popular vote would even things out, and would make it so everyones vote counts, even a Democrat in Texas or a Republican in Massachusetts.

Colin has no idea what he is talking about. I know plenty of people who have worked with Christy, he is a control freak, there is no way his staff took action without him knowing. And as someone who lives in NJ, Christy has done absolutely nothing. his signature legislature was a pension reform deal, that he than broke his word on...which is going to make future pension reform negotiations insanely difficult. Transportation fund is going broke...he does nothing. he has now spent more of the year out of state than inside the state. There is a reason his approval ratings in NJ are in the 30s.
@Bigbudd00459 жыл бұрын
+Bigbudd0045 Romney wasnt primarily a business man. His father was a govenor,he was a former govenor of Mass, and he ran for the GOP nomination in 2008. Calling Romney a business man and not a politician is saying Obama was a law professor not a politician.
