KFP2 is solidly my favorite of the series and I was surprised at how lukewarm their impressions sounded at the beginning. I like the humor in this one better, and the poignancy of the story, beyond a simple and perfect heroes journey like the first movie this is an exploration of overcoming trauma, the strength one can draw from that directly opposed to what happens when one lets their world be painted by it. And the visuals are more experimental, going for an early attempt at a more graphic rendering style for DreamWorks that is pushed further in stuff like 3, The Bad Guys, Trolls, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Don’t get me wrong, I love the first movie to death, and I will concede that it’s probably the more balanced film, but all of the above is why I like 2 more. It also probably helps that for me, having seen these movies as the originally came out in theaters, the writing and humor probably worked differently than they do now if you’re watching those for the first time over a decade later. I also think Lord Shen is an INCREDIBLE villain.

100% Tim is wrong. I think he watched it in like 480p or something. Cause those scenes where they fall into water and you see how their fur reacts to it was mind blowing to me back in 2011.

It's so weird how they all have this low opinion of Dreamwork projects when they go "it was ok" or "such a fun time" but then, as they go beat by beat in the movie they get so happy about the scenes and the setup/payoffs and the action... a condition I'd like to coin as Pixardick

For Tim to say Kung Fu Panda 2 looks WORSE than the first and "looks made for TV"...Tim, I beg you to go back and watch ANY scene. KFP2 still holds up and looks LEAGUES better than the first. You can even compare it to the Netflix TV show if you really need to.
