Best Theory: Voldemort, Snape, and Harry represent the three brothers and Dumbledore represents death from the Deathly Hallows. 1. Voldemort is the first brother who believes he can vanquish Death, but eventually fails because of his ego. 2. Snape is the middle brother who spends his entire life Mourning his beloved Lily. 3. Harry is the youngest brother who hid from death his whole life and then eventually embraced his fate. (The boy who lived, the chosen one) 4. Dumbledore was the one who had all three hallows with him as Death would. He is the one who passes the cloak of invisibility to Harry. Dumbledore meets Harry at King’sCross-Station after Harry sacrifices himself. This is where Harry “meets Death like an old friend.”

I get why a lot of people don't care for this one, but it's one of my favourite HP movies (granted I love them all). But, I love the slowness of it, the drama, the isolation. It's just about Harry, Hermione and Ron trying to find the Horcruxes with no clue what they're doing, no help, while constantly looking over their shoulder. It's dangerous, it's tense, it's scary (not like a horror film scary, but scary for the characters) and I love it.

I'm in the same boat. This movie might be my favorite of the bunch. I can see how the adaptation kinda fails those who haven't read the books, but I think this movie perfectly brings the tone of the book out with the isolation and drama that you mentioned.

I think most of this movie is trying to show just how lost and hopeless they are. I remember reading the book and getting pretty frustrated because it just seemed like they were constantly going in circles and making no progress, but once you get past it you realise that that was the whole point. Once they start figuring things out you feel the relief with them.

Jonny Horror that’s exactly what made it good to me. Tim put it up for stalling but it really is there to show you how lost they were, and thought it’s glossed over in the movie, they do mention how crazy it is that dumbeldore didn’t leave more info behind.

I'm sure this is a controversial opinion, but this is my favorite Harry Potter movie. The character development between Ron, Harry, and Hermione is second to none in the whole series. Also, the sense of loneliness is palpable; when they're holed up in Sirius's old house you really feel like it's just them up against the greatest dark wizard who ever lived with no outside help. I love the vibe of this whole movie.

About Dobby's injuries: Hermione poured Essence of Dittany in Ron's wounds, which essentially speeds up the natural healing process by making fresh skin grow over a wound, making it seem like its several days old. So you can't just pour Essence of Dittany inside a deep gut wound like that. Dobby was bleeding internally.

I think to answer Tim's grievance with the introduction of the Horcruxes and Hallows in these last two movies, I kinda of agree that its a bit of a stall tactic. I feel like we should have been introduced to the horcruxes near the end of book five. so we had a a bit of a break on info dumps on magical maguffins in book six, and have the hallows reveal carry a little more weight as objects capable of countering the power the horcruxes give voldymoldy

Deathly Hallows Part 1 holds the record for most viewings in the cinema for me. I saw this four times in the cinema and loved it every time. I think the reason why I loved it so much is because after six movies I was super bored of Hogwarts - so having a road movie essentially with the core cast was really refreshing for me.

I don't know if Barrett will talk about this next week for Boss Baby Book Corner but the book talks about the biography on Dumbledore and his past which sets up more the Hallows plot line and the mystery behind them. Also up until Dobby's death Harry becomes more and more interested in the Halllows while Hermonie is pushing for the Horcrux plot. Also I will say in general while this In Review series made me want to go back and read the books it wasn't as good as I hoped I feel like alot of the series seems lost in Tim, Andy just wasn't into it because Azkaban was his favorite, I appericated Nick love for the series and Boss Baby Book Corner as great. Don't get me wrong I thought it was hilarious but I don't know something felt off.

Barrett left out one detail that was in the book but not the movie. Hermoine has a portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black that they took from 12 Grimmauld Place since it can go between that portrait and the portrait in the Headmaster’s Office in Hogwarts. It’s a shame you guys don’t understand this movie and what it’s supposed to be which is more of a character study. Yes, it’s setting up a lot that is finished in DHP2, but it’s focus is on how the characters have grown as individuals and friends and what this journey has been like for them. I’ve noticed most of Kinda Funny enjoys movies built on hype and huge spectacle and big reveals, so I knew this movie would be received poorly by you all, but that’s alright. Also it’s literally Part 1. While I understand movies are released separately I’ve always felt when you do a part 1 and 2 they are meant to be watched together. Part 2 picks up minutes after 1 ends. Nick killed it with that plot though, I laughed so hard on my drive home yesterday!
