Purely my dumb and very in-the-minority 2¢: I am entirely on the opposite end of the F&F comparison here. I had to force myself to finish F7 and did not bother with any more after that because I thought F6 and 7 we're that bad. With this movie, I thought they hit all the right notes for this franchise, which is a dumb horror action franchise. In fact, I think the way most people look at the original is weird, aside from what it did to further filmmaking. I think the first movie only has the artistic commentary when it's directly stated, and for the rest of the time I feel like it's read into the movie instead of just existing in it. Don't get me wrong, it is PHENOMENAL, but I have always felt it was a fun horror adventure movie and not the high art most people seem to get out of it. So, when we get to this movie, the fact that they lean into it and do the most different story from the rest of the franchise, I loved it. Not in an among-the-greatest-ever like the original, but enough to make it my personal favorite so far. Of course I concede the original is a better-made film in the writing department, but I still had that much fun with it. Greg's reaction in this video had me giggling, and I totally get where everybody else is coming from, even if I disagree. But great work on the video, KF Crew! As always, of course. Always a great time!
@SpartanShepard2 жыл бұрын
I loved watching FK in theaters, and I'm sorry, but if a movie makes me cry then it's getting bonus points. They did something right for me. The script definitely needed more time to cook, which I think has sometimes to do with Trevarrow putting more effort into his Episode 9 script, which is even more disappointing because that never got made. But I think the directing is master class stuff. Like this needs to be shown in film schools to show how to take a mediocre script, and make a visual spectacle out of it. I feel like the mansion stuff was only a few pages, but the director managed to make something genuinely scary and intense. Maybe I'm a wuss for thinking something like that made me scared 🤷🏻♂️
@HugoRodallega202 жыл бұрын
Lost interest in F&F after F6, felt somewhat believable upto F5 was Misson Impossible like. But then went way over the top. But for me the Jurassic Park World films feel separate from the original, so don't really care how dumb it is. Especially with it having Dinosaurs in it.

The themes of each movie can be summed up like this. Jurassic Park, don't try to control nature, because you can't and it's dangerous to try. Lost World, don't try to control nature, because you can and it's a mean thing to do. 3, those monsters want to eat us, so let's be where they aren't. World 1, I haz raptorz because I iz played by Chris Pratt. World 2, we've learned nothing from the last 4 movies, so our protagonists are going to bring dinosaurs off the island and someone is making another super dinosaur because of reasons.

This is number 3 for me. I like World (2) and Jurassic Park (1) better, but this is way better than 2 and 3 is really just boring and feels like it has no stakes (almost nobody dies and no true feeling of any of the main characters really being in any danger and then it ends. Even the girl attacked by the compies at the beginning is said to have been saved by her father in time!).

I'm gonna say this before I hear them dig into the movie. I will never defend this movies script but a bad script does not a bad movie make, Bayona is a world class director and this is the best directed film in all of the sequels, the actors do their best with the writing and manage to have tangible fun in this. Yes Greg, you get us homie, this movie is dumb as shit but it's beautiful and fun af to watch.
@ToothofaShark2 жыл бұрын
How does having a bad script not make this a bad movie? The writing is the backbone of every film. It's like putting icing on a charred cake.
@PopCounterCultureEd2 жыл бұрын
@@ToothofaShark because film isn't literature, the script isn't the final piece of art the film is, a script can be bad and still be extremely well directed, acted, who, scored, and edited. If you can't appreciate any of those things on their own then you don't like cinema and like are one of those idiots who think art could ever be objectively judged.
@ToothofaShark2 жыл бұрын
@@PopCounterCultureEd I understand, but the writing of the characters, story, and dialogue are the backbone of a film. I can appreciate great acting and cinematography from terrible films, but I'm mostly bummed out that they're not in better films. Game of Thrones season 8 had great cinematography, effects, and acting; but the writing destroyed that season and now people don't really talk about that cultural phenomenon anymore.
@PopCounterCultureEd2 жыл бұрын
@@ToothofaShark of course I wish the scripts for every jurassic sequel were better but they're not, Tha means I have two choices to make I could either let myself get stuck on how bad all the scripts are and never enjoy myself with the franchise again or I can accept the scripts are bad and enjoy them anyways. This is why art is inherently subjective, I didn't like GOT S8 either because the writing was bad but that was always what made that show great, the writing, what the jurassic series does great is dinosaur action set pieces, the only time the series was anything more than a collection of well directed action sequences was in the first one and that is unfortunate of course but even if I disliked the sequels it wouldn't take away from that films power and its a power that has ignited a lifelong love for the unique feeling that only those movies ever convey. If you want a more in depth explanation as to why FK is awesome and why it's flaws aren't the directors fault I made a whole video about it called Dark Middle Chapter's, feel free to watch it for more explanation.
@ToothofaShark2 жыл бұрын
@@PopCounterCultureEd I get what you're saying, but isn't that kind of lowering your standards? Anyone can enjoy any film, but acknowledging that it's bad and just accepting it for its poor quality comes off like you (and others) are telling these studios that mediocrity is good and there's no need to improve. You say that there's two choices, but there's actually a third choice: don't watch it and vote with your wallet. Instead of just accepting the studios mediocrity, you can choose not to give them your time and money. Disney has now made an empire of mediocre to bad films lately because people will see them just to see them, no matter the quality.

When this movie first came out, I refused to watch it. World was okay, but I didn't think it deserved a sequel. When this was released and all the hate came, I thought maybe the hate was deserved and kill the franchise. With World 3, was like, "just die already. Kill it, kill it with lava and fire and bombs!". Then when this review series hit I started to watch the movies. And after watching this movie and the others I can now reasonably say........ this is number 2 by a long shot. I had SO much fun with this with me actually getting teary-eyed with the last Dino being engulfed with lava when leaving the island, goldblum scene being perfect, the monster movie vibes in the mansion and even the schlocky "daughter clone" dialog and forcefulness. #gregwasright List goes: 1. JP 2. JW:FK 3. LW 4. JW 5. JP3 P.s. YOU GUYS GIVE TOO MUCH CREDIT TO F&F BUT HATE OTHERS FOR THE SAME SHIT! I personally only like 1 and 2 in that franchise and despise the rest, but seriously tone down the absolute love making for F&F and then just hate fucking for other movies for the same shit others do.
