For me, with severe pronation (Duck feet - pointing outward. 😩 *SO* painful), I use the following tension techniques. Sorry for such a long comment... 1) After years of experience in taping my body (I have Complex Ehlers-Danlos), I have learned that _ the tension you apply_ *IS COMPLETELY YOUR CHOICE.* Edit: I use maximum tension, often overlapping already applied tape to increase tension. 2) Trust me, I have watched _every instructional video available_ (No joke), and *none of them EVER instructed any of us to apply enough tension to provide the TRUE proper tension for ankle stability.* 3) I purchased the most affordable precut strips I could practice with. Surprisingly, at the grocery I go to, their home band had 20 strips for five dollars! Typically, I purchase BULK rolls of the *ORIGINAL Dr. Kensio's Kinesiology Tape* at 113 feet or more to choose the length I want. It costs approximately $65 on Amazon (depending on color choice), and I can provide you with a link if you like. *LASTLY...* 4) I have found that I use the MOST TENSION POSSIBLE to deliver maximum stability that holds my foot and ankle with only walking ability. *My taping techniques restrict any left or right movements.* Sometimes, I have to use four or five strips, but it allows me a day of not rolling my ankles AND a great night of sleep. _I am known to sprain my feet in my sleep._ Please, *if you have any questions, ask away!* _Yes, I do have an MD that specializes in ankles. We have been working together to understand why I cannot wear braces, but he is always overjoyed that I have found a way to stabilize my feet and ankles._ I also had a career (with two degrees) in Healthcare, so communication has been accessible (And of the utmost importance for us all.), so I know why I am being "Gaslighted." Again, feel free to respond. I have to use Dr. Kensio's tape on all my joints. Another EDIT: I removed a section where I typed the same thing twice and a few more sentences for clarity.
