It is even worse, the queen chose to shuffle off this mortail coil in Scotland, not England, and she was so close to it at that point that she would not even chance go back for a change of PM, she forced them all to come to her in Scotland, and the rumours are she was not happy with what the tory pary had turned England into, and of course theur criminal activites, and she was after for 70 years as the face of the commonwealth and its people and values, but here come the likes of Farage, Johnson, Gove and Mogg to turn England into a xenophobic little cesspit of hate, but i suspect you will hear more of this as time passes and people start to speak out....but it is quite telling she chose to leave surround by the Scots than the English. ;)

The problem is that the DUP claim to represent all Unionists and particularly Loyalists in Northern Ireland. It leaves no room for middle ground for those who neither share the views of the DUP, nor want Northern Ireland to leave the UK. Identity is a very personal thing, it's up to those who live in Northern Ireland whether they identify as British or Irish, nobody can force them one way or the other

Anyone can pick an isolated incident but is that fair? I could name many victims of British violence on the island of Ireland that resulted in many lost innocent lives but would that be fair? Michelle O’Neill and SF should be applauded for the steps that they have taken since the GFA. That doesn’t mean that people will forget the atrocities committed by both republican and loyalist paramilitaries, just as the families who had loved ones killed by British Security Forces won’t forget. But if NI is to move on from its bloody past, then politicians like Michelle O’Neill and Jeffrey Donaldson have to be involved.

For those who can’t hear: at 1:17 Charles says ‘I hear you’re the biggest party (to sin fein) and then ‘Tell that to Jeffery (DUP)’. Then they all have a chuckle while the DUP stand looking on. For those outside Ireland, It’s a dig at the DUP behaving like they are the dominant political party. The DUP are a political party that oppose Irish unification and espouse loyalty to the British crown. So it’s quite ironic

The King, as a young prince, was very close to his uncle, Lord Mountbatten Sinn Fein is the political wing of the terrorists who killed him. So this can't have been easy. But Charles III is showing the same diplomacy as his mother. He has moved on and ostensibly so has Sinn Fein. They have realized that decades of bombs and bullets failed. Michele O'Neill was only a child when that happened, and she too has shown diplomacy. This is welcome and would have been unthinkable during The Troubles.

He said to Jeffrey ' I have met you before, occasionally' and then he makes a point of looking directly at Michelle while emphasizing the words 'in the past'. This was immediately after stating to Michelle they were now the largest party through ingenuity and skill. Seems like a thinly veiled dig at Jeffrey and Irish Unionism in general. Quite a surprising and humorous remark from the British Monarch. 😂

@@henrysevern Literally no one wants that to happen the Unionists are stuck in the 1600s and need Britain and every other sensible person knows that Ireland is Ireland
@henrysevern

@@chickensprint Island of Ireland was never a United country likewise with the main island of the British Isles was not always under one Government. In history Ireland was ruled by five separate warring fiefdoms. The so called Unionist or Protestants have lived on the island of Ireland for many centuries as long as Europeans have lived in the Americas. If there is a border poll and they vote to join, they can join the republic. If they want to stay in the U.K. or become their own separate state it is up to them. They can also partition Northern Ireland again so that some of the border areas that want to be in the republic should be allowed to join. The republics claim to Northern Ireland is nothing more than a territorial land grab. Pretty similar to the claim over Gibraltar by Spain or Argentina of the Falkland Islands or perhaps Greek Cypriots over Turkish Cyprus or Turkey or Turkish Cyprus. Satisfaction arrangements have occurred before such as Singapore becoming a separate self governing state deprecate from Malaysia. An even better example is Switzerland where individual Canton Governments control the local area which allows three not two as in Northern Ireland linguistic cultures (German, French, Italian) to go-exist in a highly successful country.
@chickensprint

@@henrysevern Those Irish Kingdoms weren't different nations they were just different political entities owned by different kings. Nobody uses the borders of historical Kingdoms for the basis of where Nation-States should have their borders otherwise Germany would claim the entire Holy Roman Empire. You're talking utter nonsense about land grabs when the only reason Northern Ireland exists is because of a land grab by the English known as the conquest of Ireland.

The King’s great-grandfather, King George V, was a great lover of Ireland. It was King George V who in 1920 demanded that the British Government call off the Black and Tans. King George V even wrote at the time of “My Dear Irish People”, and prayed that one day we could achieve Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland. So it’s no surprise that his great-grandson King Charles shares that respect for Ireland, and disdain for those (the DUP) who are preventing cooperation and reconciliation. Spoken from a moderate Unionist perspective.
