Big, red, delicious, and expensive: the King Crab is one of the most exquisite seafoods there is. Caught off the coasts of northern Norway, each one is tagged with a QR code that can be used to trace where they were caught, and by whom.
With their spiky red hoods, spiny legs, and thick pincers that look like they could easily take off a finger, the King Crab’s appearance is pretty threatening. If you don’t let that deter you though, a culinary treat awaits.

The fact that’s already the most expensive 🦀 in the market and eating it in a fine dining makes it even more expensive is a treat for sure!

Still don't understand why it's so expensive considering there's an ABUNDANCE of them - too many and harmful to many ecosystems actually. You'd think with this much demand more fishermen would get into the king crab-catching business.

The fishers who make money off of them don't want to hunt them to extinction, precisely because they make so much money off of them.

@@navnnavn1226 hunt them to extinction? Their population has been multiplying over the last few decades and invaded many parts of the world causing havoc to local ecosystems. We're not even on a trajectory to control their population growth let alone to extinction. Besides, fisherman have hunted many species to near extinction, they are motivated by what they can make today not tomorrow.

@Henning Ott You're perfectly right. He has been living in Norway for more than 10 years and offers touristic crab fishing tours.
