The reformed King Crimson of 1981 emerged as a completely distinct entity from its late '60s/early '70s incarnation. Notably, Adrian Belew (vocals/guitar) and Tony Levin (bass) joined the ranks alongside previous members Bill Bruford (drums) and the leader/founder Robert Fripp (guitar). While the band retained its musical unpredictability, their fresh sound and approach deviated significantly from their original progressive direction. With two albums released under this new lineup (1981's Discipline and Beat), King Crimson embarked on a tour that led to the creation of their first home video, 'The Noise: Live at Fréjus.' Initially recorded in August of '82 at the Arena in France, this video remained largely unseen until its reissue by DGM in 1997. However, it serves as an exceptional visual testament to the '80s-era King Crimson. Now available both as a full concert and as individual clips exclusively on the official King Crimson KZbin channel.
Guitar / vocals: Adrian Belew

This is the iteration of Crimson that I love- they remade themselves over and over but imo- this was the pinnacle. I believe this is the seed that later grew into Tool- they had to have been inspired by these guys. The off timing, the syncopation, the polyrhythms- I keep expecting to hear Maynard singing. If you take away the distortion and tune them up to standard- think about it, they sound a lot alike.

No they dont. KC uses jazz standards, also classical. Tool is more progmetal band with odd time signatures. Primus have more in common with KC

There is an interview of Danny Carey where in a moment he explain how in his young age he get drastically influenced by KC when he first-time hear Discipline. Also i think you can see a lot more of similarities in between the last works from KC and Tool for example "Electric" and "Chocolate Chip Trip"

Then they'll have to kill both of us. Greg Lake was my favorite voice with KC, and I really loved John Wetton too. I've got a lot of respect for Adrian Belew, and I think he's mind-bogglingly talented, but I do find that I will avoid a lot of King Crimson stuff just because of his voice a lot of the time. This performance though, voice aside, I really enjoy it. It's something magical.

I was always a huge fan of Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd and all the obvious rock bands. One of my buddies tried to turn my on to King Crimson way back in the day and I just didn't get it. Here I am still trying to get it and sorry, but I don't. God bless you folk who embrace what I consider to be repetitive nonsense because I really do think that folk should be encouraged to like what they like but I will be damned if I can ever wrap my brain around KC.

They were just full of surprises from one ext. impressive improvisations and to that prog build up through out the song with all of those "simple cores & notes", searching sometimes as if still fine tunning before the show, practicing, ect.(thats the repeating, maybe, I guess urex1717 hears, I do of course but worth the time). Yeah, for me ; if I could just commented, put it simple.
