A lot of the land that became Israel was purchased by Israelis from non-Palestinians prior to British rule. I think this is where the differences in owning land comes from. Like Bedouin, Palestinians think by just setting up on land they have a right to it. You might come across online examples of nomads being evicted by landowners using violence. On the other hand Israeli Jews, like in the Bible and most countries, land has to be bought and deeds signed and registered.
