Lone Star Drift

Күн бұрын

I wanted to have Taka Aono tell the story of his AE86, and just chat about the history of USA drifting back in the day, and AE86 life. I wanted to share with the audience what happened with the AE86 and why it isn't in Formula D anymore. I looked up to Taka and have always been curious about his drift experiences. I remember when he got his Toyota Atlantic motor, and I remember when he put a turbo on it. I remember him at Falken Drift Show Off events, and Formula D. I stole the thumbnail from @larry_chen_foto and if you don't know who that is, go follow him on instagram! He is by far my favorite automotive photographer!

I really enjoyed this video as I have a ae86 in France since 2005. I discovered this car when I was in college in the states watching initial d in 2002 or something like that. I am a grip driver but I want to learn how to drift my Corolla. I wish I could.attend taka's school to learn the basic to drift in a Corolla. It is not easy to find a place to practice basic technic ( donut, figure 8) but we have a lot of " round about",lol

I'm 38. I was there in 2000 when drifting was in its infancy in America. I remember Aono Taka san when he had a head of black hair. Even back then, he was a hachi roku sempai. Currently living in Okinawa Japan, but I'll be going to Taka san's Drift School USA when I move back to America.

What a story ❤️ From 2020 in Drift Masters European Championship is also necessary to use original rear subframe. For example You can't put e39 rear subframe to e30 which was very popular mod. Greetings from Poland 🙂

I go to university and major in history, I always wanted to write my paper on drifting and its history but they don't approve as it doesn't go with the course but I hope to write a paper of it for sure as these interviews with drivers go in depth. Thanks for these videos @Lone Star drift !!!

What year are you and what course is it? I'm a military history major going for my MA and in undergrad, they never had a "military history" major. But I always scewed my paper to fit my interest. For your senior paper you should be able to have the option to do it on whatever you want (ie drifting). But for grad school thesis, depending on what history you go into (American, Asian, European history). Without a doubt, you can incorporate drifting and the automotive subculture into it. For Japanese History of Gangs, I did a paper on the Mid Night Racing Team and Bosozoku. So it's entirely possible to talk about drifting.

One thing I will say as an instructor, where the student looks when he is drifting directly affects the car, it's incredible what difference it makes when you can change their focus point it's like adding 20 hours of seat time, taka is very right about that

I'm not even on my third event. I'm already driving on lock. Unfortunately, I never had a Sim, so the downside of morden days is natural talent is often overlooked and dubed up to Sim practice. (I am gonna get a Sim cause a 2022 LT1/SS camaro is a expensive car to drift with 420whp and 3800 lbs with me in it lol.)

The difficulty in driving a 86 is one of things that makes them so appealing to me my first drift car was a stock Miata with a welded diff and cut knuckles thing is so easy to slide when I got my 86 it opened my eyes I always thought they were easy to slide u gotta really drive and push it to the limit in a 86

I love when Taka cut you off when you tried to say "86 driving doesn't necessarily translate to other cars" Which is BS because you can learn a lot from driving a 86. It teaches car control better than anything else because it takes much more effort.

Fit my style so perfectly ie: low power momentum/wet drifting.. omg. Too bad there 20k cause i aint doing that. lol. And why there is no new young drifters in japan. No cheap cars.. That sucks. Makes me wonder if were heading into an inflation mess.
