I love boat trips on the Thames, The trip up to Richmond is great we saw Herons, and a lovely pub to eat in. 😊 NW UK is ugh weather, no gardening for me. So here I am a cup of tea and a crumpet with homemade jam. Yorkshire is a Skewbald horse brown and white. Black and white horse is a piebald.

There are several names for spotted horses, Pinto is a common one . Black base coat with white spots is a Piebald. White base with black is a Skewbald. Hope that helps. 😊 Thanks for the lovely walk through town!

Hi John I just wanted to share a little story. At the local supper market yesterday I met an elderly gentleman who started a conversation with me. He was wearing a cap sporting a blues badge. He went through his service with Parker Bowles. He told me some stories of his adventures and was very proud. Half an hour later he told me there are no sergeants in regiment due to Queen Victoria apparently it stands for slave and she wasn’t having it. So Corporal of the horse’s is the same rank. Very interesting I live in County Durham.

Yes, Queen Victoria didn't want the rank of Sergeant and a (unique to HCAV) rank was born: Corporal of Horse (CoH).

The colored horse at the beginning... in the US we call those "paint" or "pinto". it is the most common color for ponies in the west usually ridden by native Americans. Now they are all over the country. I had a friend who owned one,

I just did some quick research on the difference between Piebald and Pinto. Pinto is the Spanish word for 'spotted'. Other than that, it seems they describe the same type of colouring on a horse. It just depends on where one is from. I always think of a Pinto being those that some of the Indians (or Native Americans. I mean no disrespect) used to ride in the movies.

Also, pinto refers to that unique two tome coloration. However a Paint horse must have thoroughbred or quarterhorse lineage with the two-tone pinto coloring. Pintos can be mixed with any breed of horse; it's the two-tone color that gives it the pinto name. So every Paint Horse can be called pinto, but not every pinto can be called a Paint Horse. I know there are groups who own one or the other and they can get quite heated if they hear you call their horse the wrong name. I don't know if it's like this in UK stables, but in US, there are more stables run by women than men. Plus more women own horses than men. And when you get groups of women stableing at a woman-run stable, there is bound to be drama over tack, over paddock space, or whatever has their panties in a twist in a given moment. Some can be quite toxic. My point is, this is where you would most likely have people get offended that you would call their horse by the wrong name. (The Horror!) A popular youtuber calls these women barn witches, which isn't very nice, but if the shoe fits....I find it frustrating because it ruins the fun of hanging out with your horse. Perhaps competitions have created this mean girl culture. It's sad. There are a couple of classifications of Paints and Pintos. If the horse is Black and White (not gray) they're called Piedbalds. Any other color and white (not gray) are called Screwbalds. Paint is a breed of horse ) American Paint Horse Association is their registry. Pintos on the other hand aren't a breed but a color. You have Pinto Arabians, Saddlebreds, Tennessee Walkers, Morgan's etc. The other classifications are Overo (pronounced O ver o) and Tobiano (Toe bee ann o). One is color on white, and the other is white on color. I get them confused at times so you're going to have to Google it. That Police Horse may have been a Gypsy Vanner (Irish Vanner, Irish Tinker's horse, Irish Cob).

The white on Phoenix's nose is where hair was rubbed off from either tack or the horse scratching themselves on something and the hair grew back in white. A lot of horses have those where their halter or bridle has rubbed them.

Hello John 😀. It's been pouring ( I'm being polite here 😂) all day here on Tyneside rain , wind and sea fog , a glorious day 😐. The cat was not impressed and sensibly retired back to bed . Wow , beautiful police horse Yorkshire , ( same as the beautiful county ) no offence to our U.S. friends but he's not a Paint or a Pinto , in U.K they are piebald if black and white , skewbald if brown and white and not a particular breed . Another beauty Phoenix , I love the horses with some feathers on their legs , Monty , Indiana , Kensington , Radford , they are teddy bears 😍😍😍. Lovely smile from the Trooper , yes they're on duty but still human 😁. The lady Trooper , someone said the other day you shouldn't call them lady , I personally don't see why not , but " it is what it is " right John ! I love seeing all my favorite animals the horses. To me they’re the most beautiful and elegant animals around. The guards there are amazing. To think they handle these huge animals with one hand blows my mind. When I think of all the training these fine guards go through. They deserved so much respect and I get so upset when they’re mocked by disrespectful people. I pray that they recognize how hard their job is. Handling a horse with one hand instead of two is so difficult. I would like to know how long the guards on horses and the ones that stand at their post trained. England was my first choice to visit when I was young. I read a lot about the Kings and Queens of England. I love the history of England I wish I could let the guards know how wonderful they are. Like everyone has said it nice that you take us through England. I’m American that appreciates the history of England and customs.
