Imagine coming home from work and hearing one of your family members were killed while trying to make a living. Seattle need to change ASAP completely. This is so sad.

We live in apartments over looking a bus stop. I can’t believe what the bus driver’s have to put up with. We hear what I call a ‘Seattle Opera’ at least every two weeks, we see people occupying the stop as a living space, police routinely placing people in cuffs. It seems the courts are not allowing people to be held. There is a good possibility the perp is “known to the police,” that should be the city motto. “ Known to the Police.” We’ll see if what is found to be true. I would not want to be a bus driver here.

I'm sad. I saw this man nightly. I drive metro, drove that route, driven till 5am. I rode the bus as a kid and drive it now. I'm sad for this man and his family.

I was attacked with bear spray right after getting on the bus. Worst experience ever. No one was arrested that I'm aware of. Sending prayers to the family.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of the bus driver that lost his life today. King County and Seattle leaders must act now to deal with the lawlessness allowed to persist in our community. They have turned a blind eye to the criminal activities that are out in the open for all to see. Yesterday Metro closed a bus stop due to the drugs and gangs. This is unacceptable. Instead of law enforcement dealing with the problems, services are cut and law abiding citizens pay the price. Lights strung across 3rd avenue just shine a bigger light on the problems that exist there. I ride the bus and fear for riders, drivers and anyone trying to travel through the city.

I had a man yell at me because he dropped his drink while running to the back door. It was shut. I saw him and opened the door, but he fumbled his drink while getting in and blamed me for it. He then kept yelling at me and some other passenger spoke up. We are powerless and have to just try and not be reactive. We are human too. The disrespect happens each trip. You don't have to say hi to me, but people get on the bus like they're mad at us. Pay fare or not, come in and have a seat so we can get going. This is really sad for this man. I've seen him nightly, spoke with him and waved at him as we passed by.

This morning a man was dragged off a metro bus right outside my office building on 15th and 41st Ave at the UW and one of my coworkers saw the dead body as she walked up to the building.

100% agree with what he says. Even in much safer countries like The UK or Italy, the bus drivers are protected with clear plastic barriers.

…and exactly how does a driver prevent fare thieves from boarding at the two rear doors…or even the front one for that matter? I am a regular on the #7 line. I estimate 30% of those boarding…not including school age kids, do not even pretend to pay…and it’s not just young male smartasses..,

Are all the anti-gunners going to try to ban knives? Maybe if the bus driver was allowed to carry a gun they could have protected themselves.

Background check for ammo purchases, no online sales for ammo, restrictions on how much ammo you can buy in state, and last but not least an ammo tax. This legislative session is going to be brutal!

So sad for this driver. Buses haven't been safe for years yet seattle city pushes the bus service down our throats. The remove more and more care lanes and make them bus only. No one wants to ride the bus.

The hard working transit professionals should walk out until immediate protection is provided. In an area where all drugs are legal, no arrest policys, 1/3 the cops we need, sanctuary for all law breakers, and a GOVT hell bent on taking away the RIGHT to defend yourself, Why should they deal with this trash on the daily? Lets remember the time a few years back when the transit driver who took a bullet while under fire as he backed up a bus around a corner to get his passengers to safety.

Why did the driver engage the individual? Information isn't adding up. Why was the door open? Why didn't he run? Why no witnesses? Driver was probably smoking a cigarette, on delay time, parked.
