Many years ago, whilst stationed in Germany, I was put onto a 6 month AMP duty (auxiliary military police) to assist the local MP's in their dealings with the resident garrison. My duty partner was a quite grumpy senior corporal from my Regiment, a single soldier who was usually to be found at the bottom of a beer bottle most weekends. Anyway, one day-shift, we were sat in our vehicle watching the local highstreet (the garrison was next to a beautiful little German town, a very small and tight-knit community, everyone knew each other) when I noticed my partner was constantly shifting around in his seat, scratching his crotch and clearly in great discomfort. When I asked him what was wrong, he told me that he had picked up a local woman at the weekend, slept with her several times and now thought he had caught crabs from her. Laughing, I pointed out that we were currently sat opposite the German pharmacologist and that they would surely sell him an over-the-counter solution for his problem. The cheeky bastard told ME to go into the shop and buy him whatever they had because he was too embarrassed and that even though he knew enough German to talk a woman into the sack, he wasn't sure he'd be able to identify then purchase the correct stuff. So, in order to keep the grumpy bastard off my back _and_ reduce the likelihood that I'd somehow catch the bloody things from him (I was married and didn't fancy trying to explain to my wife that I'd caught crabs from a vehicle seat or from simply working in close proximity to the filthy bugger I was partnered with), I took his cash and went into the German chemist. Typical of my luck, I couldn't find what I was looking for on the shelves so had to approach the staff for assistance. Once again, my luck kicked me square in the bollocks - the sales staff at the counter was a drop-dead gorgeous blonde woman who spoke a little bit of English. Over the course of a ten minute conversation in broken English and stuttering German, I managed to explain what I was looking for (she initially thought I was looking for flea powder for dogs/cats and kept trying to send me to the pet store down the road) and she sold me a large bottle of off-green liquid and explained the procedure for using it - wash the effected area, if possible shave it bald, apply the liquid (it's going to be quite uncomfortable), wash hands thoroughly, avoid touching area, rinse/repeat every six hours until bottle is empty. I gave the bottle to my oppo (opposite number - my partner) and without even getting out of the vehicle, he opened the bottle and dumped about a third of the contents down the front of his trousers. So much for the instructions. Anyway, a few days later whilst on static patrol, I commented that his little boxer shorts menagerie seemed to have cleared up (he wasn't scratching and twitching anymore) and he confirmed that the foul-reeking liquid had indeed done the job. So, we got on with business as usual. The following monday, the bastard was there, sat in the driver seat, scratching and twitching away once again. I asked him if the crabs had come back again? He told me that he'd slept with the local woman again but it was ok, he still had about a third of the bottle left! He'd stop seeing her when it ran out. As if that wasn't bad enough, my wife and I bumped into the beautiful blonde pharmacist whilst shopping (several months later) and she remembered me! Again, out of politeness, we had a broken English/stuttering German conversation wherein she asked me if the noxious reeking chemical brew had fixed _my problem?_ I had a helluva time explaining that one to my wife.

Good story but I’m not sure it’s quite accurate. Due to host nation rules AMP were only ever deployed alongside RMP who were Warrant card holders. So I assume your partner was RMP?
@bhurzumii43152 жыл бұрын
@@markturner6755 I absolutely guarantee it's 100% true fact. No, my oppo was a member of my Regiment. During the week, on day-shift only, we would be sent on patrol in our cruddy little short-wheel-base Landrover as part of the "visible deterrent" push. The town, as already stated, was small and quiet (through the week, day-shift only) and we were simply an extra set of eyes and boots on the ground. On the rare even of anything happening, we'd get on the blower and summon our...ahem...monkey counterparts. Oh, and on nights, we'd either shadow the RMP patrol car(s) or be split up and put _into_ their vehicles. Also, weekends (including day-shifts) we'd be co-loc'd with the RMP. It was a bit of a shit duty (wearing red beret's and "MP" armbands made us feel like traitors!) and it only got worse when/if we had to assist when dealing with guys from our own Regiment. One thing I will say though, it really, really opened my eyes to how underhanded, slimy and downright horrible your average RMP was. Objectively so.
