Thank you so much for this type of topics. Iv started the journey of entrepreneurship with a lot of failures it's a lonely hard journey but worth it. And I learned that school is build for workers not for entrepreneurs because we are taught to work for someone and not to create for ourselves. Thank you so much we will change the narrative one day because of this type of conversation.

David we appreciate the efforts; this was truly insightful. It is sad how we find ourselves stuck in this cycle of lack of self-belief in our abilities and continue working for someone. The fear of leaving our jobs and venturing into what will make us "happy" is so big and the more insightful topics we listen to with Africans whom we can relate to, helps a great deal. Thank you Gerald for availing yourself for us.

I uninstalled Twitter, Instagram & Facebook from my phone 3 weeks ago. Had to keep WhatsApp (fortunately/unfortunately). This is my experience so far, Garbage In - Garbage Out. Most of what we consume from social media the moment we wake up tends to shape our day. Starts off well, usually, but can turn the moment you see some content you don't agree with. We're attracted to the negative content (twars, beefs etc) and leave little room for good wholesome content like this talk. I don't regret being "offline" because it's allowed me to filter my own thoughts and seek out content I want to see, especially my personality interests. Twitter & Instagram show you recommended content, instead of the things you've clicked like on. Also, it's common for the algorithm to direct you to content "because you watched/liked" this, that's all you'll keep seeing. That said, social media has ruined us, you won't have much time to watch and listen to good self help content because you're scrolling endlessly

I love some of the content here. There is a mindset shift that we need as black people. However, I am firmly against the notion that an individual is somehow enslaved because they are only employees. When you do start your own business, you will need those so-called slaves to work for you, and you will need them to be skilled and work hard. Some of the wealthiest people in the world were not creators/founders but employees. People like Steve Ballmer or Satya Nadella were/are lifelong Microsoft employees; they have generational wealth. So let's encourage entrepreneurship by all means but do not look down upon people with just a salary because everyone can't have a side hustle either; otherwise, productivity within companies would suffer. Even in the most prominent economies, the percentage of entrepreneurs doesn't crack 20% of the population. Let's encourage wealth creation and retention without denigrating the very people we will NEED to build that wealth.
@happyclappy18052 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. Like the people who say they can't work for anyone , yet they will need to hire people to build their own dreams. Plus not everyone has the talent, desire or stamina to row their own boat. No shame in that
@michellemakoni78902 жыл бұрын
I don't think that being enslaved is the point that he was driving here. Everything has its own market and l believe that his talk is mainly for those who want to be entrepreneurs. I don't quite hear him degrade employees in any way , he just presented the advantages of being your own boss. Anyone aspiring to be an entrepreneur is enlightened now, l believe

Personally, from the day I got out of the formal employment into business, I have never had a single reglet, its funny how middle class has been brainwashed in our society to believe that they are rich but essentially they are the poorest..someone cannot sustain their current lifestyle for even 2 months if they loose their job today...just pathetic
