lightyearpig12 well there's a theory saying that this is Land of Departure before was taken by the darkness. The World that Never Was is just an illusion (or something like that) and that's why it has that name. It was a world at past, but now it can't be considered a world anymore because it was taken by a irreversible darkness. The world that never was made, just an illusion of the past and the future.

Clara Castilho The Land of Departure is Castle Oblivion though...Also there's no reason to come up with these kind of outlandish theories. It was simply the final stage of kh2. If Nomura wants to give it an explanation so be it, but the closest it could be at the current moment is a fortress constructed by the organisation. Traverse Town is essentially just a world with its only purpose of existing is to cater to those who have lost their world, the town was likely constructed by those lost people. So the possibility of a world solely existing for nobodies that the organisation just built upon isn't too far fetched.

to be honest, What about twilight town? I have a theory that maybe the residents there are nobodies as it's one of the possible locations of a Nobody to go once they're created as we know Roxas was found there, and the "Twilight" part of it would further hint at this as that's where the nobodies believe they're situated in, the known Nobody population we see in KH2 also shows that are indeed a large number of them so it's possible the people live there are nobodies but don't realise it.
