Tyler Perry spoke with KeKe Palmer on her podcast about the criticism of his movies and the recent movie 'Divorce in the Black'. Tyler Perry basically said the critiques were from uppity people referring to them as "high brow" people, like he isn't upitty flying out the British Royal family in his jet and offering them safety while making part of Atlanta unaffordable.

My personal experience with Tyler Perry I had a friend who told me to send him one of my plays, I received a letter stating that Mr. Perry doesn't take any scripts or plays from outside sources. So I've been over him for years. Thank you King of reads for this video. I thought the same thing when he made the statement.

Right. It's always someone else's fault. I've said it a hundred times, Tyler likes talking down to his audience, which is why every movie is on the nose and contains a sermon. Then when critics say it's not good and that he doesn't have the writing chops, he tries to talk down to them too, but the issue is that most of these critics are smarter than him and Tyler has ZERO self-awareness. Somehow we're looking down on this BILLIONAIRE who doesn't know the price of milk. Like, okay Tyler 🙄

Flying on private jets that are terrible for the environment and contribute to global warming, buying up a bunch of land that sits unoccupied etc. etc. I couldn't find any sources for this one but I also saw conversations of an alleged interview she did with a "faith healer" and ended up being a serial child predator and abuser.

Madea is just one of the many tiny reasons why women don't want to grow up to be "Big Mama" anymore. Or Martin Lawrence's "Big Mama" at that. Caricutures and minstrel shows have shown us that these women who gave up having a life of their own to take care of their families and the community have been made into a joke and all of her sacrifices and efforts gone unappreciated. People can't say "we're losing all the (literal) recipes" when being called a Big Back has made its way into the current vocabulary.

@@Brandy-jl2qo , exactly!!! I've personally known some "Big Mommas", who were some truly sweet ladies. These women, they deserve to be praised, not mocked or caricatured. It disgusts me, when I think of all the people who have laughed their selves silly over Madea, not really thinking about exactly what it is they're laughing at. Especially all the white people who have laughed at Madea, over the years.

Somebody please tell TP that there are positive black relationships. All his movies have the same format: the abusive mother (usually dark-skinned), the abusive man (usually dark-skinned), and a man to rescue (light skinned)the abused woman. TP should consider using novels or a writer room moving forward because we can not keep watching these trash movies.

Why would he, he's already said he is basically not going to listen to people who think they can talk at him, and why should he, his mama and daddy are gone, if you do not like it move on, and those that for some reason get a kick off trying to chastize him, they made that choice to stay.
@5cburrell
@5cburrell Ай бұрын
@@ensabahnur3104 I doubt anyone gets a kick out of chastising him. I know I don’t & there is a difference between chastising and critiquing. We just want him to do better. Nothing is wrong with pushing someone to up their quality especially if people actually want to support him. You’re real quick to say “if you don’t like it, move on”. Okay we all stop watching, then if that happens and it is shown that nobody is watching his content, he will most likely have something to say about that. Take a moment and think about that before jumping to the defensive.

So my husband and I, a black man and women separated for six years and he went with a white woman who he stayed with for four years of the six. Last year we were able to reconcile, not get back together but able to reconcile. I say all that to say this, we talked for hours during that time and he told me how she loved Madea obsessively. Knowing she was getting off with the fact that she had this black woman’s husband and loving Madea. I completely agree with you. The menstrual show only allows people of a certain color to feel good about the BS they participate in! He left her a year ago and is doing his thing and I’m doing mine but yes, Tyler Perry, there is an intricacy you play in the role of Black people and it is not perpetuating us forward!! As if it’s groundbreaking to appeal to the lowest denominator/form of media. Also, “We [black folk] are too hard on each other,” as if no other director or producer has received criticism for being a hack. And what do black folk have against (constructive) criticism and quality media? Is that all we deserve? This “Mama dun burnt up duh chicken” plays, Tubi movie plots.
