It probably has an open side because there’s a cigarette lighter port in the console. So you can still use the port if you need to by opening the safe. Most portable air compressors for the tires are powdered by the cigarette port so you still need access to it in an emergency

Will a M&P Compact 9mm fit in it? If so, can you recommend a soft holster or something to keep it protected in there that would fit as a package? My 24 Canyon AT4 is on order. Thank you!

I just did the 4-in m&p 2.0 compact and it fit with room to spare. If it was in the soft case holster it would be easy to fit in there.

If you have a CCW it works great. If you have to travel per DOT regulation it still must be in a locked case outside of reach of passengers. These laws are terrible.

Nope.... Locks don't work that way. You must have lock combo to change code. Try it sometime
