I meant hold DOWN (to go up). When it comes to stake-assisted builds, I neglected to mention that if you want it saved as a favourite you must remove the stake before adding the last part for the correct finished build to show up in your history. As this raises issues with the goblin glider you may consider NOT attaching to the stake. I'm aware of 1-fan aircraft and there are comments on here about those. They're a bit on the specialist side for this particular video and intricate to balance right so are irrelevant to most. After giving them some attention I've decided I DON'T recommend them but welcome the use if you feel so inclined: - They are a bit wonky (RIDICULOUSLY wonky unless very well made). - Low stability. - They tend to require flammable materials which restricts them from fiery locations (that includes zonaite versions). - They're hard to make/fly right (this does provide a challenge you might consider worth doing but I can't recommend them for primetime). - The main boon they offer (lower battery consumption) is good but there are multiple ways to recover battery in midair so the battery factor isn't a huge issue VS 2-fan devices. Their low speed impedes the low energy consumption advantage somewhat. - I've not seen a 1-fan build which can use a 45 degree fan. That said, if that's what you personally want, go for it! (Paragraph written before railings were discovered, they're much better with elevator railings!) There have been some objections to my carry test but I stand by it. Yes there are better positions for carrying and yes the pot is heavier than koroks and crystals but what matters most is test CONSISTENCY and a circular base attached centrally provides that. This test provides evidence that more fans cater for extra weight. Had I used a crystal for instance, people might object to the crystal not being symmetrical per example. Refer to my linked weight test above for more digging into weight.

I HIGHLY recommend using recall for descending when any of these hover bikes. Not only can it be used to cancel momentum by activating immediately cancelling it, if you use it to descend straight down you can also use it again to do a vertical take-off after you're done whatever you're doing on the ground. My personal preferred method is to get above wherever I want to go, let go of controls, recall/cancel to send the vehicle into a straight down freefall, then recall/cancel again when close to the ground to remove fall momentum and ensure the bike always lands straight even with only two fans (don't try to activate the vehicle fans to counteract your downwards momentum like this video shows, recall is so much easier and more effective). Then when I'm ready to take off again I can recall the vehicle and activate the controls to easily return to my previous altitude.

When I built my fan "bike" I used a stake placed at the correct height and SET the control upside-down on it and didn't attach it. That let me get the first fan attached while being able to see the attachment point and get the angle right. Second fan was a bit finicky but in that case I lowered the stake so the control stick can be placed upright with already placed fan touching the ground so it wont fall off the stake platform and could take my time getting the fans lined up. Admittedly I learned the stake method from somebody's video but they didn't change the height of the stake to allow placement of the second fan so the finished blueprint was a bit awkward to quickly print out. One thing I noticed about your "trike" flyer is that you had to spend a lot of time keeping it flying straight. Usually this means that the fans aren't placed right and in the video the fan on the left wasn't attached to the same spot as the one on the right. you wouldn't think that 3 pixels of misplacement would make that big of a difference but I have found that its the difference between needing to constantly baby the thing in the air and being able to just pres A and let the machine fly itself.
@KingX Жыл бұрын
I think you're onto something with using a stake but not attaching to it so it doesn't get included in the history. I should have thought of that. As for the tricycle, you're right, that was a rush job for the video as I had no intention of keeping it.

I built a goblin glider ( 3:55 ) on my own, not realizing it was an existing concept, but in my version, I put the fans flat, level with the steering wheel, where the edge of the fans line up with the start of the stick part of the steering wheel and the steering wheel is attached to the bottom part of the fans. That, along with Link's weight in the front allowed it to fly diagonally pretty well without any need for input, but you could push forward if you needed distance or push back slightly if you needed height.

The korok is attached to the right side of the board and the control stick is off-center to the left. It takes off just fine but I can't get Link's weight to perfectly counter balance the korok's, so it tilts slightly in flight, but is perfectly managable. Side note is that after removing the korok and centering the steering stick, it flies as a much more stable and easy to assemble two fan bike. It is probably moving a little slower with the extra weight, but it does keep a steady altitude instead of constantly climbing in the neutral position.

I've found that to line things up and center things like the control stick on a fan, you have to look at the symbol on the front of the fan. The circle with the broom looking line down the middle will tell you if the fan is straight and which side is the front or back. If it's at a 45° angle your control stick will be off, if it's 90° to you it will be straight as long as you aim for the very center of each item. No need for turning off motion controls or other methods for translating real world motions into in game restricted controls. Each item has this, I guess you could say, X Y Z style box. Even things like the steel poles if you pay attention to the pattern on the ends of each pole (or the edges and points of the end polygons against a light or dark background if you prefer).

I did try a 4 fan with lights on either side of the control stick but they are poo. Large seeds give off SOOO much more light. Also I have a 4 fan with 3 beam emitters on a swivel head either side just in case I feel like doing an airstrike while in the depths

if you manage to balance it right, the 2 fan hover bike actually can ascend and fly with a shrine stone, barely. And it easily carries Koroks without even worrying about where you stick them. I think the cooking pot must actually be a little heavier than the shrine stones, which is surprising Also that recall landing to kill momentum is clever, I'll have to try that. Nice video.

For landing you can actually tilt them(from my experience the bike) forward and you'll actually decent while going straight. Since you HAVE to go straight you have to plan your landing and once you near the ground you pull back to lift up the front and then simply press Y to let go without the crazy free fall
@Reddotzebra Жыл бұрын
I used my wonky bike for such a long time that once I switched to the goblin glider, the ease of construction and sideways stability outweigh the loss of maneuverability for me. It's simply rock solid and I haven't managed to tip over in the air even if I try to do so deliberately, whereas the bike can get stuck in a death spiral if the fans are even slightly misaligned and you turn too hard in either direction. I will probably build a korok lifter later.
@InvaderCom Жыл бұрын
In my personal experience I found the two fan is capable of taking off any flying with either a shrine crystal or Korok glued to the bottom, though the Korok requires some sort of support to keep the bike upright During boarding and takeoff. The shrine crystals can be balanced on their end and have the bike stuck on top of them, and will stay upright if boarding and takeoff is done quickly enough. They will be more sluggish and unstable during flight (the shrine crystal especially) but with careful control both work for massively speeding up dealing with both of these.

I present to you a single fan “bike” with a dazzle fruit forest dweller spear + Korok frond tail. The best trick for fan alignment is to look at the Zonai logo in the center of the fan face, making sure it's either upright or in any cardinal face exactly, so the construction grid wont pull your control sticks to any one side An easy way to get it is to grab the fan with ultrahand and let go, spin it, do whatever, as long as you grab it and drop it and don't move, so the grid is centered with Link

The hover bike (I personally call mine the skyward scooter) can indeed carry koroks. They're much lighter than the cooking pot. And if I need to carry anything heavier, I just attach a couple extra fans to the back end and stick stuff there. So it's like a trike, but with 4 fans instead of 3.

And what about putting the fans right in front of each other instead of at the side of the others. Some of the schematics are configured that way, so it might have use for speed
@Entropy512 Жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking - I've seen a few claims that stacking fans in this way leads to increased speed - kinda makes sense if the physics engine in "accelerating" the input of whatever air enters the unit - so 2 fans stacked input to output would have a much higher exit velocity.

Also consider attaching a dragon scale or dragon part in general before favoriting it to auto build. It’ll cost 3 Zonaite extra every time, but it’ll cause your bike to not despawn within a 2,000 meter radius, as well as often making your bike easier to spot if you lose it.

Hover Bike can carry a Korok on the front, I do it all the time (havent tried a crystal though). For landing the hover bike, after going down pull up just before you get off to level it out. Attach a dragon part to your vehicle to keep it from despawning (it has around a 2,000 unit range I think).

(1) When you are nearly on the ground, it is sometimes better to jump from the bike (press jump) instead of just using B to stop controlling it. (2) I've heard that using autobuild will regenerate the fans' duration but I tried it and it doesn't seem to work so well. (3) For the quad bike, an easier way to build it is to add goblin-style fans to the sides of the regular bike's control column. Not sure if this flies the same, better or worse though.
@CyberDruga Жыл бұрын
I'd like to add my 2 cents here: you can land, and even reverse from a awkward place using recall. For landing, press X to stop controlling, activate recall on the bike and immediately deactivate it, let it fall a bit ( no less than 3 seconds) and repeat the process of activating and deactivating recall For reversing you just... use recall on it, and that's it Also, you can use recall to recharge your batteries while flying. Just do the landing technique, but instead of letting it fall for a bit let it go up and down using recall.

I've found that the fans have cardinal attach points that play into the "shift" after hitting the "Attach" button even though they look completely round. Use the Zonai logo on the "out" side of the fan to line it up such that the arrow is pointing forward or backward once rotated flat on the ground, and then you should have better luck getting a nice straight attachment.

You should look at the single fan version. Take a Control Stick... UH Meld a Mop standing vertically straight up from the back of the Control Stick. UH Meld a fan facing downward on the top of the Mop and over the Control Stick. The connector has to weigh nearly nothing. So Korok Leaf or Mop works.
@KingX Жыл бұрын
I currently am investigating single fan options. I've not heard this one but from the way I'm picturing your description a korok frond isn't tall enough to hold the fan over the steering wheel high enough for you to control it, you'd need 2.

I assume the korok frond would as well but that the zonaite versions would be fine. Aside from that, my main issue with 1 fan designs is that I've not seen any work with a 45 degree angle yet. Also they require high precision so are hard to recommend to most. Then again the lower energy consumption is too good to write off.

If you make a 4 fan design, but stick the two aditional fans on the outside of the back central fan of the hover bike design (10 oclock and 2 oclock positions facing forward), it is the fastest 4 fan design I have come up with. Weighing down the front always seems to make it slower for some reason.

Note: the B button and X button can be changed in settings. So to clarify how to operate the controls withou jumping off, just press the button you have set for sprinting/sheathing your gear. Example: I use B button for jump, so I use the X button to stop control without jumping off (unless you're into that like I am when entering into slow-mo version above enemies).

At the end of the day, adding more fans will only allow you to approach the theoretical speed of a fan without weight. There will be diminishing returns for each additional fan once you overcome the hurdle of taking off at all.

7:55 The 2-fan hoverbike can handle koroks and green crystals just fine. I can't imagine anything else you'd need to carry, so the extra carrying capacity of 4-fan seems a bit redundant, even if it makes koroks and crystals a bit easier to transport.

Goblin glider: looks cool, gains height easily but not very manoeuvrable and can't go down very well and you have to hold forward to go, well, forward. Hover bike: looks not as good but great manoeuvrability and can go down easily, you don't have to move the stick much to fly straight.

Very good video with nice editing. Only the audio cuts were pretty harsh, otherwise big thumbs up. So far, I have been carrying everything with the hover bike, including koroks and those crystals. Depending on where you glue it to the bike, it gets very unstable, but I see it as some extra fun in the mission to get the crystal to the shrine with the bike. There was one shrine in the sky, where I fell to the ground 2 times (shooting down behind my falling bike) and I needed to make it up again. Took a while and you need to be cautious with the controls, but it did work out. I like to be experimenting with weight distribution. A flame emitter to the front and one to the back give enough weight to the hover bike, so that it doesn't ascend so fast, so you can more easily fly across the landscape. Koroks are usually put on the rear fan. Also, giant lightbloom seeds do have a weight, but a pretty small one. I have been flying through the depths with this configuration for ages now. Best invention ever.

The 4 fan one because it can support more weight. Typically you'd stick the fans onto something else so you'd have extra room to attach the construct heads etc but the issue with that is platforms have an expiry time. Natural platforms like wood and stone apparently last longer than zonai ones but if you say... stuck a cannon at the bottom of each fan for even weight you'd greatly bypass that issue and practically would just need to think about the energy limit. Naturally you'd want to add the cannons on while it's upside down.

In my opinion you set the goblin glider up to win the speed test by giving it a huge upward path to traverse (goblin glider always goes up) which the hoverbike doesn't do as well as it, and the hoverbike still won that by a noticeable margin.
@KingX Жыл бұрын
Actually if you see my 3rd study on this where it's just those 2 vehicles head to head, their ascend potential is the same. The glider just has more upward movement in neutral so it gives that illusion. If you're seeing a supremacy with the hover bike in this test though I don't dispute it.
