How to Drop Back and Stand Up from Urdhva Dhanurasana with Kino Yoga

Standing up and dropping back from Urdhva Dhanurasana is accessible with lots of practice. It's a combination of strength and flexibility. First you need to be able to straighten your arms in Urdhva Dhanurasana. Second you need to be able to shift weight onto legs. But perhaps most importantly you need the strength in your back to be able to lift and create space between each of the joints of the spine. Watch this video for a step by step technique. This is not a beginner video. Beginners should start with much more basic backbends.

This is the only one that. Made me get up from a backbend I loved it U SHOULD get more subscribers others one need swaying which I don't really like but this is better

Thank you for the video Kino! I have recently been able to drop back...very exciting as I struggled for so long ( and still do!) with backbends. I'm not yet able to stand up. The interesting thing is that when I do the drop back it seems to give me, put me in, the perfect placement. What I mean by this is that the backbend from dropping back feels good. When I come up to UD from being on my back I still feel lower back pinch and have a difficult time keeping elbows in. Just a personal observation!

Once upon at time, two years ago, this was fluid for me...now...my core and shoulders are just too weak to do this. I'm going to have build those muscles back up to even attempt Wheel Drop Back.

It means to tighten / contract the area of the perineum (engage mula bandha). (^_^)

Dear Kino, thank you so much for the video. I am able to drop back and come back up by myself. However sometimes my knees don’t track properly when I am dropping back. This aggravates them and gives me patellar tendinitis. Do you have any tricks to help with this. Thanks so much for your help

Thank you so much for that video. I still do not drop back on my own, however when I am using a brick between my legs it comes easier, however the fear of "falling" is still bothering me. I can see my mat while bending backward but got scare releasing my hands down.... also without bricks I can not control my legs, they instantly open wider (not my feet but my knees).... does that mean that my legs are not strong enough, and in case you reply where exactly should I put the brick when using it, between the knees or higher toward the pelvis? Thank you so much. Lots of love xx stef

Put your hands (palm facing upwards) in front of yourself then you bend it to your back and then lay it on floor 😁
