Kirby Avalir Shampooing Pink Dining Room

Well it certainly cleaned the carpet just fine but that strange noise bugs me. I'll be taking a closer look into that awful shampooing sound in upcoming videos.

The Kirby can deep clean ANY carpet just as long as you pre treat it (VERY important no matter what method you use) if need be. Even carpets damaged by flood can get a second chance at life! I’ve done it quite a few times, and it works GREAT. the only thing about it (and this may just be because I use the old style shampoo system) is it tends to frizz up some older carpets and some types of rugs. And that may just because of the way the pile is cut (or it’s made very cheaply or is just simply worn out).

Assume video! I believe the noise it makes is normal because there is more space between the brushes on the brush roll now than the there was on the older ones. Mine makes the same noise.

I've never been into Kirby's ... but they are starting to grow on me. I've been watching lots of videos on them lately. I've learned a lot about them. I like how everything comes apart...the bag itself can be washed.... the emptor...the brush roll...the fill tube..... I mean, aside from the motor itself... it seems like you can keep it pretty spotless... and this shampoo system looks really easy to use... I was surprised you got that much of an area covered and it seemed to not need a lot of passes to do a good job.... but I'm not exactly sure what's happening .... It looks like it's putting down water...but it looks so different than what I'm used to...

Kirby calls it dry foam because it uses very little water. It's called encapsulation.

My sister had a rental apartment that needed a good carpet cleaning sometime back. I shampooed the carpets with my kirby and picked up a ton of crud that the professional carpet cleaners left behind.

Love my Kirby Avalir just got a used one works great uses the Shampoo system a couple times already it’s awesome does a great job had the Heritage II growing up

Found a really cheap Avalir shampooer at a flea market. It’s so much better to use simply because of the quick empty tray. I’ve found myself actually inclined to use it more. The mop function is my favorite. My husband is a mechanic so lots of grease gets tracked onto the hard floor. The shampooer gets it right up. Mine does make that horrible noise but it’s not as pronounced as yours.

Using an average vacuum, I get around 8 grams of dirt from 1000 square feet of carpet, vacuumed twice a week. Three humans and 1 dog.

Excellent video. I’ve worked in film/video production for over 30 years and commend you on your technique. The baffle strip- mine like yours appears to be slightly rounded & conforms to the housing. The image (from manual you inserted) appears flat or straight. Wonder if that makes a difference? Need to get a Shampooer box in VG condition. Any suggestions? Keep up the outstanding work. After you vacuumed your supposed to prespray with the kirby spray gun or with a spray bottle before you run the actual shampooer.

Do you notice any residue left after using the Kirby shampooer? I have been wanting to try it but after seeing what the resolve dried foam leaves in the carpet I am nervous it’s going to damage my carpet. I usually use water extractors like the Bissell or Hoover to clean my carpet but I have always been curious about this.

You're supposed to vaccum a few hours after shampooing.

I hated using the Kirby shampooer always my Kirby sentria was horrid at shampooing even with everything in place and working well it would always the the motor shaft and fan wet and I noticed it dosent even work that well for my carpets I just use a Bissell shampooer now

So far I've never had any performance issues with any of my shampooers. I have the shampoo attachment for a G4, G5, G6, Sentria 1 and the Avalir of course. Wonder what's causing your issue(s)?

I like water extracting better myself, I feel like it gets it cleaner. To each their own however.

I hated it until I used it the way Kirby recommended, put down small square of suds then go over until all suds worked into carpet. I have thick white carpets and dogs. Mine are like new. I do use Kirby pet shampoo

@@andrewamidala i have 3 dogs 8 cats and tan carpet thats about 15 years old the builders of are house left oil all over are carpet ect and so we have had a carpet extractor since we moved in the kirby stuff just takes to long and i just dont feel like it does as good of a job

The height was adjusted correctly. Since I know my carpet height, I can simply go right to the correct height. Your procedure is only for those who are learning.

I almost bought one of these from a Kirby sales guy when I bought my first home. Came in told me to vacuum with my machine he'd be back. First trick was putting the coffee filter over the suction hole. That trick failed him because I had a great vacuum already. A $69.00 vacuum. The next thing was to attach this shampoo contraption and tell me how sleek and versatile it was. The vacuum weighs a ton. Its bulky. Theres an open top foam collector. Its just a dinosaur. Hey I do like older things that actually are older and came from past. They make this vacuum new and that guy was shooting for over $3000.00 for it. His other highlight. Handle was made of bullet proof plastic. Metal was used on space shuttle. Well if you need bullet protection while vacuuming you need to move. The space shuttle was retired because defective. Buy a Dirt Devil cyclonic upright and a Bissell upright cleaner. Cost about 250 bucks. Will do better job. Sorry Kirby. Sad but true. Sorry for Kirby supporters. Hey you got burnt. Happens.

I would never buy a new Kirby or Rainbow as they loose too much money (depreciate). I get them used for $10-$50. And Kirby's don't cost $3000, the salesman was boosting the MSRP. Even an Avalir 1 only had an MSRP of $1500, and would sell for as little as $800 if the buyer bargained. Some people don't know how to bargain.

@@VacLab That guy was a crook and at the time that front shampoo add on was new. Yes, he was a thief of a salesman but the economy was booming. At that time it looked to me like it was worth a lot because I'd never seen anything like it. But no. Not what he was asking. A lot of salesman pull that. An outrageous price at first. If you bite. Haha sucker. If you don't they start acting like they can give you discounts or promotions. Took me 3 hours to get that guy out of my house. No sales guy has entered since. Honestly. I had a Dirt Devil Cyclonic right there that was more powerful. Easier to maneuver and had easy access attachments and hose. The Kirby guy was impressed with it. They say the cyclonics lose suction over time. That vacuum was 10 yrs in and the roller brush broke when I was changing a belt. That tanked it 4 good. Now I have a 300 buck Dyson upright mini and cordless. Best vacuum I've laid hands on for vacuuming the carpets and floors. Put an attachment on it and you'd be better off sweeping. Is worthless. I just got handed a free Kirby g7d. I was looking for vacuum bags. Ended up here watching vacuum vids... pffft.

Hey you know what? Sometimes a guy just has to admit when he is wrong. The neighbor across the street gave me this same vacuum. Had burnt out head lamp and the cord was shorted. Bag over filled and roller brush guard installed wrong. I fixed all that put the new bag plugged it in. Nothing. No power. Had to twist bag at bottom go activate a safety. Turned it on and started vacuuming. Well after adjusting height properly. This vacuum is absolutely outstanding. I just got done vacuuming the day before and this thing sucked up another quarter of a bag. The weight is covered by the drive gear and its not as noisy as the one they tried selling me at home. I owe the people at Kirby an apology. The dinosaur really works. I have the carpet shampoo set up but no. Not going to use it. If I can't vacuum or shampoo inside corners it isn't worth the bother. I think you guys outta dump that feature and all others except blower and vacuum. Lower the price a lot. Get back in the game. Haven't tried attachments yet but will and will edit this if needed.

@@timconnell9587 It's a completely different process. The Hoover is a water extractor. This is a low moisture process.

@@timconnell9587 they are different types of cleaning for different types of staining. They can't be directly compared. Kind of like comparing cars to trucks, they do things differently.

Picking up a Sentria 2 with all the attachments tomorrow, to augment my crappy plastic Hoover pet vacuum (three plastic pieces broken in three years) I'm interested in trying the shampoo setup although I do have a Bissell "big green" for carpet shampooing. Maybe the Sentria will be good for spot cleaning? I'd appreciate your opinion.

Kirby has another attachment for spot cleaning that's much smaller. If I'm setting up the full size shampooer, I'm doing the entire room.
