Thankfully she is still active as a teacher. She says she'll never sing in public again, however, there are times when she demonstrates in master class without realizing it.... and the voice is still magic.

baritonebynight Yes, even she is missed from the stages, her grace, her voice, her expression of music, her attitude in real life, her artistic work....and all are persis. She sets a great roll model to the young musicians. The world is bleseed to have a such fine soprano, Kiri Te Kanawa.

OK tell me I'm wrong. Did Dame Kiri just tell us she has remarried? And more then 3 years ago at that. She did say my husband didn't she? At 6.15

@@keefir11 nope. Heard her in another interview and she clearly said my then husband. Meaning Des . That's why I was so surprised. Have since heard her mentioning grandchildren too. Been going through all the videos on this channel slowly, learned a lot so far.

Liane van Dongen she sure did! Considering that she and her former husband split in 1997 and she retired in 2017...I think our Dame Kiri has remarried!

@@joyciejd9673 ty , and there is at least one grandchild. Dame Kiri mentioned visiting her grandson Luca/ Luka ( not sure how it s spelled) in oktober. And he lives in New Zealand. This I heard in the phone interview about the Kiri te Kanawa theatre.
