Kirito's attack is literally sprouting parts of the tree his sword is made of. It's actually absorbing Fanatio's attack, which is why she didn't have a chance. Alices sword is one of the heaviest divine objects, it's why Kirito loses ground on every clash.

And also, his sword is originally the branch of the Gigas Cedar that used to absorb the biggest amount of sunlight and resources. Since Fanatio's sword is basically a gigantic ray of sunlight, she didn't have a chance against Kirito

@@yassmineelmoukri1710 little bit of nitpicking but Fanatio’s Heaven Piercing Rapier is an amalgamation of a hundred mirrors. The perfect weapon control art simply utilizes the main functionality of a mirror; that is, to reflect light.

So important things to note! Like Kirito suggested, perfect weapon control arts cannot be spammed, as they drain enormous amounts of the weapons durability (this varies depending on the weapon and which stage of the art [enhance or release]). Underworld also has a feature that is hinted at here but isn't mentioned as explicitly in the anime as it should be, but you can restore a weapons durability by letting it sit in its scabbard for a period of time (which of course depends on how much durability the weapon has lost). And last thing, the walls of the cathedral have nearly infinite durability, which goes to show how incredibly powerful perfect weapon control is. great reaction :)

Even Alice can’t spam her perfect weapon control art - she would literally destroy her Osmanthus Blade if she took it too far. It has to be returned to its scabbard to regenerate every so often.

Yeah, always found it a bit annoying the durability issue is never really addressed. Considering how much of an advantage divine class weapons are, leaving a bit of explanation for non-readers on why these weapons cannot simply be spammed is in order. Also, god have I missed these explainers...so much about SAO I didn’t know about even after years of reading & watching...hope to see some more in the future, always that one guy in the comment section all prepared with answers to the greatest questions...

​@@ravenwraith1017 Yeah I agree, they've done some great sci-fi technobabble so far but not enough game mechanics because I'm guessing the people in charge of the anime must've decided that "It's a game." explains everything. Sure, as a D&D player used to counting my spell slots I took it at face value that Eugeo can only activate his Enhance Armament 3x per day and Kirito 2x but a non-gamer would've probably asked "Why?" since it feels arbitrary.

The Enhancement ability kirito use is from the demon tree in episode one where he and eugeo cut down.

It’s really easy to miss, but when Kirito parried one of Alice’s strikes, it damaged the outer wall of the Cathedral. In its weakened state, it couldn’t handle the interaction between the Osmanthus Blade’s and Kirito’s sword’s perfect weapon control arts, and as such the wall, as well as Alice and Kirito, were blasted out.

Yes, the thing you need to keep in mind with Kirito’s “currently unnamed black sword” was made from a branch from the Gigas Cedar that absorbed the most “blessings from Solus and the surrounding land (Terraria)”, therefore his sword’s special properties are going to reflect that.

Yeah the enhance armament is supposed to be like a tree because the sword was made from the material of the Gigaa Cedar tree. So the swords memories are from the tree.

Basically Enhance Armament and Release Recollection is like Shikai and Bankaithat invokes the memories of the weapon. Only weapons of the highest quality (divine weapons) can be release. Alice has the oldest object in existence as a sword, Eugeo sword is one of the oldest object and swords in that world and Kirito sword is one of the youngest sword in the world but has an equally old origin.
