We’ve finally hit the part where we learn that Kazuto Kirigaya, aka Kirito, was adopted by his mom’s sister after his parents died in a tragic accident. His birth name is actually Kazuto Narusaka. Kirito’s own running joke throughout much of the light novel series is if his parents hadn’t died his gaming tag might have actually been “Naruto” instead of “Kirito” (since he derived it from his real name).

A little explanation about Pina: In SAO, there is rare chance that monster will be friendly to player. If player give something to that monster, and make it happy, then the monster will be tamed and becomes a pet. Silica didn't know about that feature when she met Pina. She just see a small, cute, unhostile dragon, then give it some peanuts, which luckily, Pina's favorite. That's how they become friend. Too bad that anime didn't tell us that part

About the familiar in the novel it is stated that it is really hard to tame a beast, since you need to create a bond with the beast and there is no known way that guarantees it to work. And since the beasts normally are your enemys it's dangerous too.

Yeah, this game is terrible as a game. You put in tons of time and effort, risking your life in all likelihood to tame a beast, and for about the first half of the game if you ever let that pet hit zero hp you have to just start over and try again. That's the worst class design of any game I've ever seen.

@@grantharriman284 no it’s not it’s quite common in games for example Skyrim your dog can die so no there are many games and look at some of the monsters if it wasn’t difficult it would be so op

@@grantharriman284 Isn't a class thing since there are now classes in the game, you can pick multiple "master skills" like unarmed combat, spear, sword, katana, blacksmithing, cooking, combat regen, stealth, detection and many more, there is a limit on how many of these master skills you can have, but don't remember what the limit was, but you can use any combination you want. Each of these skills has it's own level up to 1000, you level them with simply using them, like for unarmed you just fight unarmed a lot to level it. Every few level or a skill you get abilitys or these special attacks they call "swordskills". Beastmaster isn't even a skill, it's a hidden mechanic that allows you to befriend a beast. And nobody knows how exactly it works, but from the information given to the readers each beast is unique in some way and each beast/monster has it's own controlling and learning AI and the AI gets reset, if the monster dies and resapwns. For tamed beasts there seems to be a delay in deleting the unique AI, so you could bring them back. Light spoiler: As another example you can take the AI that we will meet in a few episodes. That AI has the same core, but another purpose. So technically you need to make the unique AI of the beast see you as a friend. (That's what I like about the books there are so many more informations about the games in them than in the anime, which makes a lot of things even better, but I know that all that stuff is hard to show in an interesting way in a TV series or movies)

@@joshuawilliams4314 It's all about opportunity cost and game wide balance. There are plenty of games with mechanics like that with things like permadeath and other harsh resets, but they apply to the whole game. If you break a sword in this game you just buy a new one. There is no equivalent weakness on a normal combat class. It's specifically a massive weakness for this one class. Considering that we never see another beast tamer it could be inferred that this weakness completely removes that class from viability. We never see Pina heal anyone except the tamer, and with how much time and effort she has to put in to get a strong pet she is at best breaking even compared to leveling up a direct combat class. Having all that effort go to waste so easily is a massive weakness with no clear payoff.

@@grantharriman284 there no class system in sao for a start plus it more likely that’s it just a hard skill plus it could be a unique skill or more likely the first season of sao was rushed as it was made for a short story tournament so it just left out like can u tell me anything about her character other then she’s a dragon tamer the character are one dimensional until season 3 still a good show but could of been better

Did you know that last year was the 10th Anniversary of SAO, and the year Kirito and about 20k Players first dived into the game? Glad you like the show. Season 1 to me feels like the beginning of a really long story. The realism of the story, how they gave Life to each of the major characters in the story, It's why I like SAO despite the fan backlash of its usual anime tropes.

Some missing context under the terms of "fair use". Name «Pina» was the same name that Silica gave to a cat she had in the real world 01:21 It could have been a great scene in this show. "Something inside Silica snapped. ... Silica stepped back with a lithe movement, avoiding the blow that the monster had swung at her. She then rushed in with a shout. The dagger in her right hand flashed as it rained blows down on the Ape. She didn’t even try to dodge the club of the Ape that had switched in after it saw the HP of its companion decrease, but instead blocked it with her left hand. Her HP decreased, although not by as much as a direct hit. But she ignored it and went after the third ape, the one that had killed Pina. ... Her HP bar had already gone into the red danger area, but she didn’t even care anymore. She saw only the enemy she had to kill, as if it were enlarged to fill her vision."

kirito is well know to be op as he run solo = more exp for one vs a team and he help by getting the mob hp down but the last hit or kill get's the items & more exp?

it's also more dangerous and he wasn't solo until floor 20 so he was high enough level to start grinding solo without it being too dangerous. Then when floor 27 was cleared he joined the cats and then went on to join the KoB after a couple of months so he really wasn't solo for long, in reality he's only this strong for starting with the assault team and keeping up with them and higher floor guilds. Also because he was a beta and spends lots of time in combat, his brain became more used to giving and receiving input to the nervegear, meaning his reaction time within sao became better, same thing that happened to Yuuki. This was the main reason he recieved the dual weild skill, also because he began training with dual weild which is an irregular equip state which feels awkward and doesn't allow sword skills, the reason he began to train this was because he recieved a skill to take and equip opponent's weapons and so this was a good way to fight in an emergency. sorry for info dumping under your comment but it feels right also other people can read it up for a better understanding.

Dont get me wrong, I do love the anime, but one thing this anime did that I honestly hate is the fact that "if you die in game, you die irl", so for a character like kayaba, it doesnt really suit him to be a serial killer like hes not jack the ripper or like the joker ffs, instead they could have just punish the players by having lose all their inventory or they lose exp, point is the anime tried to be too dark, when it didnt need to be, cuz I think that the fact that theyre trapped is already psychologically traumatic for kids like kirito

Honestly, the fact that you have to revive your pets like this is pretty bonkers. I mean... she's a beast tamer class yeah? So she's got skills and such sunk into having a pet and fighting with it and so on.... And then all of that becomes permanently useless because the pet died and wont respawn or revive like it does in any Sane game that allows for pets or summons? I mean I know this is a Death game thanks to the lead dev being an utter asshole. But come the frick on!

Once you complete season 1 i would reccomend watching the abridged version on youtube. It's legit better written than the real show and it's super funny aswell. The abrigded version took everything of the original show and just improved upon it.

Hmm , it is not too deep in SAO yet ... Sachi death was sad :-/ ..Spoilers : wait till you see episode with Yui .... There is also special group there .. When you like this kind of anime try : LOG Horizon it is not so dark when you take the implication that when player die in SAo he die IRL ... In Log horizon it is something else ....
