Thank you Kirk - really nice to see a decent amount of water and good turnover!

Thanks Kirk, for showing the lid instructions as well as the inside of the machine for me. Do the suspension rods feel pretty sturdy to you? Thats the only thing that worries me about these new machines, is that one of those is gonna break due to the stress of the weight of the load and water being on them constantly. In regards to the plastic outer tub, I personally don't see an issue with it. After all the direct drive machines had them and they lasted for ages. While not as beefy as steel, I think it stands up just fine under normal circumstances. As far as the long stroke agitation sounding different, it sure does. I think there is something else going on here. It did at times sound like it was bogged down, even although the jeans are heavy, this is just a normal load IMO, not overloaded or anything so it shouldn't be an issue. I think its a different agitation platform altogether. I noticed there are holes in the bottom part of the agitator and I can't help but wonder if it might be blowing water or something up those when it changes and that's why it sounds different. I guess the only way to tell is to run this cycle again empty and see what happens. I did some looking last night and there is a machine just like this in the Whirlpool line, except it's only on the commercial products site, and it has the straight vane/flex vane agitator. I would be interested to see how it works with that agitator. I've personally never really cared for it, I think the dual action works much better in these machines.

I really like this washer! Thank you Kirk for the review, good job!

Thanks for showing us the Maytag washer with the front panel taken off. It resembles the GE top loaders on how their built. I wish the outer drum was metal though being that the Maytag is a commercial washer. Thanks aging. Keep up the good work.

Plastic Outer Tub, Speed Queen uses steel, build quality looks cheap and you can't choose water level. Thank goodness I bought my 2018 SQ.

I prefer to have five years of clean clothes with the Maytag commercial, and not twenty years of dirty clothes with the 2018 SQ.

Have to give it to Maytag.. they have a decent washer here.. rollover is actually one of the best when it comes to top loaders.. its almost like the Kenmore. with the dual agitator. Good to see the agitator pulls the clothes down to the bottom to perform a decent rollover

No pause and go when filling up the tub on wash or rinse like the other lower Maytag models that take forever to fill ? Do you think I could get a king size electric blanket in there ? Or king size blankets about the thickness of an electric blanket . On my lower and Maytag that I got I have to rinse it twice just to have good clean and smell . So you feel like the rinse cycle is plenty

Just curious, do you own a 2018 or later Speed Queen? If not you can't say that it washers better then S.Q. There is a video of this washer can't wash 10 bath towels My Speed Queen can with no problem .
@DylBuilder1 Жыл бұрын
@@johnalbanese30 That video was faked. owned both types of SQs and neither can wash 10 bath towels, the lid won't even shut. Not to mention how cheaply built the SQs are.
@johnalbanese30 Жыл бұрын
@@DylBuilder1 what are you talking about! I put ten bath towels, not bath sheets In the tc5 ran through the cycle with no problem. The lid was able to close. I am not talking cheap Wallmart towels, I taking thick towels you get at Macy's!
@johnalbanese30 Жыл бұрын
@@DylBuilder1 You clam that Speed Queen is cheaply built. The transmission in the Speed Queen is made of metal, all Whirlpool machines, the transmission is made of plastic if it has a transmission. What is going to last longer cheap plastics or metal.
@garykarczewski66786 жыл бұрын
Looks like a very well made machine. Thoughts on plastic outer drums? I never heard of a plastic drum failing has anyone else? I can see the cost and weight advantage to the motor and transmission. Suspension is done from the top which is interesting. Thoughts?

Yay! A proper load so the machine can do some work! Needs more detergent to get a better judge of rinsing. Also, run that load on Delicate to get a comparison of the difference in agitation.

Does the Powerwash cycle simply lengthen the cycle time or change the agitation? Thanks!

At one point it seemed to be struggling a little. I have a feeling it would have issues if you loaded it this heavily all the time. Pretty epic though.

Yes. And how about a full load of colors with premium HE laundry detergent and fabric softener!
@quickestturtlez53626 жыл бұрын
Smurdle450 it looks a lot like some older frigidaires. The pump was moved to the back right, there's a control board towards the front on the left side, the transmission was removed. The TR3,5, and 7 are unfortunately very poor performing washers and are no longer worth the speed queen price. They do fine with smaller items and smaller loads, bigger items are better on the largest fill option, but there is almost no movement with the clothes. No turnover. It's more about the water passing through the clothes. It also does a poor job with stains and removing all of the soap. This maytag is quite honestly a much better alternative and is even a little bit cheaper.
@jeromedavis85756 жыл бұрын
Where is the motor positioned?

I'd go for the Maytag! Or how about if GE brought back the filter-flos!
@quickestturtlez53626 жыл бұрын
Jerome Davis directly underneath the locked "agitator" . And a few of the GEs are actually quite good. Just not long lasting. The maytag comes with a 5 year parts and labor warranty. The expensive direct drive GEs however are not very good.

Vintage Maytags with the helical transmission have better agitation, and can clean better, and have shorter cycle times.
@seana8066 жыл бұрын
I shouldn't throw this machine under the bus, but I can hear the motor beginning to struggle at 12:42. These machines make more of a racket then the Maytags with the Helical transmission. Reversing a motor back and forth non stop uses more electricity than having a machine that has a motor that is spinning in one constant direction, and spins in the other direction for spin.
@seana8066 жыл бұрын
The motor in my Maytag A810 pulls 7 amps at 120 volts. The inverter motor in my mom's old front loader pulled about 10 amps on 120 volts.

It's all good. I am having trouble with the Speed Queen shipments. I'm still waiting for an order placed back in October. People are seriously considering changing their minds and buying the Maytag. My mother in law's washer is still at my shop but we robbed a part from it. Sounds like a good request.
@Smurdle4506 жыл бұрын
Kirk Rivas seems like this maytag machine here is shifting people from SQ, but personally If I was them I’d be grabbing up the last ‘17 Speed Queens while I can. I still feel that ‘17 Speed queens probably are better quality compared to this. But if Speed queen screws it up in ‘18... imma shift to this thing.
@kirkrivas81726 жыл бұрын
It's gonna be a hard sell for Speed Queen next year with the agitator being fused with the tub. Most of the traditionalist will complain about that design. You youngsters may be ok with it.
@ljohn19996 жыл бұрын
Kirk Rivas Why do companies need to change things when what they have is desired by most? I mean why change it i it works. Just to put a new a model number to attract sales? Also whos warranty seems best, Maytag or Speed Queen? I bought the Speed Queen set this past Nov before the new models came out. I wanted the old dials and not electronic. What else is changing on the Speed Queens? Hot water option, extra rinse, or the reset option, I can't remember for sure what you've said or I mighthave read else where.

Why is it at 11:55 when it goes into the long stroke agitation it sounds different than when it was doing its long stroke agitation in the bulky cycle?
@kirkrivas81726 жыл бұрын
Two things: 1) The long stroke on this cycle seems to have slower angular speed, 2) the weight of the the extra 10 shirts is putting a heavier load on the agitator. This is only an observation, I'm not 100% positive.
