The decision of having Ed to replace Peter for this show was made after the doors to the venue was opened, so I don't think they had any time to rehearse any of the songs. They just put the makeup on his face and went out to play. Of course, being Peter's drum tech, he had heard the songs many times before, and knew them well, so I guess there was no problem to step in for his friend that night.

@@user-iv4px7ni8j But the platform is supposed to be a bit stable and solid. If it rocks back and forth too much, something could fall, including the drummer. I worked road crew for a Kiss tribute band and had to help assemble a hydraulic lift a few times for outside shows. They rarely used it inside. We made sure everything was safe and secure. Believe me, this sort of show is unlike any other. Lots of things we had to go over a few times before the band went on. The pyro guy had it harder making sure he put in the right amount of powder into those pots.

I saw the original 4 only AFTER the reunion.'96,'98,'01. Ace didn't play too bad. Shout it out Loud solo tore my head off!🤟 Pauls voice was still awesome. Gene has ALWAYS made little mistakes with the lyrics.Played great.Peter too all 3 times I saw them. It was like a dream every time because I didn't think I'd EVER see the original 4.👍 That's nostalgia for ya.🤟

@74 torino Paul Stanley wrote in his book that it was Peter's Hands. I believe Peter wrote that it was his arms in his own book. But you better believe, if drugs or Peter's complaining about money were the reasons he didn't play this show, Paul would have been honest about it in his book. Peter's attitude and drugs held him back a lot during this era, but physical pain was definitely the reason he didn't play this show.

After seeing a few of the reunion shows, this is by far one of the worst. Even paul sings it pretty good, the drummer is a little slow, and it seems like everyone is playing sloppy because of it, especially ace. I wonder if all of the lost cities tour was like this.

I've watched two other videos of them playing Black Diamond from this era today, and in each one, Paul and Gene weren't in tune with each other during Ace's solo. But when Ace and Paul play together, it sounds fine (minus the one big mistake here), so maybe it was the bass? I don't know.
