Main song writer and singer of this song Paul Stanley once said in an interview that in the late seventies, he often went out to discos and once said to himself that "Stuff like this is easy to write" and then began writing this song. It can still be heard here in Europe on a regular basis in (rock) discos.

KISS was my first concert on the Dynasty tour on my birthday. They were good however their opening act was an up and coming heavy metal band called Judas Priest. That night changed my life. Priest in their all black leather, the Harley, Halford really going for it was just so kick ass. My older brother asked me why I wasn't as much into KISS since they were my favorite at the time. I said " Because Priest looks cooler, they are way heavier and their energy was electric. When this song came out in 79 I was done with KISS for a long time.

I both love and hate this song. Such a painfully obvious attempt to try and ride the disco trend, but Ace just makes this so good. He's not the most technical player, but he just has style and swagger. I mean, who else had rigged their guitars to start smoking while they were ripping out a solo on stage while dressed in some cheesy 70s space man outfit? And while he can't sing for shit anymore, Paul had a great voice, and the guitar harmonies he and Ace put together on this one really hit good, especially right before the solo at the end. Yeah, it's cheesy, no, I don't listen to Kiss much anymore, and this is pretty low on the list, but there was a time I played this one a lot. Totally get the love and hate for this onr.

It's kind of a revolutionary song for 1979. Desmond Child actually wrote it (or something like it) and disco was huge at the time. He wanted to write something that would be popular in clubs, but add a little R&B and Hard Rock to it. Paul Stanley used to hang out with him and they wrote this together. Gene Simmons famously hated it, but Kiss released it to capitalize on the era, touching on the dance background, but keeping it hard rock. It became the #1 song in 23 countries within a few weeks. Gene had no complaints after that and Kiss just kept getting bigger and bigger. Desmond Child too for that matter. His career exploded after this! As soon as this was a hit, he worked with Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Cher, Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, Scorpions (many times over etc... and all the biggest hits). The guy was and still is a genius song writer & and in the songwriters hall of fame.

Well technically they couldnt, if i remember correct, it was a bunch of studio musicians who got hired to write a disco rock song for Kiss and gvie them full rights to the song in exchange for a bag of money. Pretty sure Paul only wrote the lyrics.

Instant earworm! Cheesy but nearly impossible to get that vocal chorus hook out of your head. Another great disco-rock mashup you guys should check out: “miss you” by The Rolling Stones!

Pure schlock. Kiss was always cheezy as hell. Gene was at least honest when he said that his goal wasn't to built a band but to built a BRAND.

the song is a guilty pleasure. I like it and have played it with cover bands and it always went over well. Drummer Peter Criss did not play on the song following an automobile accident and personal issues (with the exception of one song). Daiv Letterman drummer Anton Fig played on the album and Anton knew the band from playing on Ace Frehley's solo album and had a band on the same label ('Casablanca') as Kiss did. That band's name was 'Spyder', I believe.

From the point of a 7th-8th grader, when it was first released, this was the song you wanted to dance to at the school dance! This was a serious skating rink song! What I mean is... if you look at it from the perspective of when it was released, it was gold. Cheesy gold. 😊
