If you dip into cleric, supposedly you get paladin of [deity] options? Though that said, content for most deities is distressingly sparse. There are *no* interactions that I found for going through the creche as a cleric of Lathander, for instance.

@menotme4602 as of dnd 5e, paladins are not empowered by a deity - rather, they draw power from complete and utter devotion to their Oath. Now mind, many paladins are still affiliated with a deity, because the sort of zealous devotion needed is most often seen among, well, zealots, but it's not required.

The way it’s described in the SCAG is that their convictions are so strong that they attract the sponsorship of a divine power, which manifests when they take their oath. There’s even a post or two on the BG3 subreddit that shows datamined tags and descriptions for Paladins of each early access deity. So, Paladins SHOULD be allowed to pick a patron deity, and the developers even planned to implement it, but they likely cut that to give more unique RP options to Clerics (even though Selune is pretty much the only impactful choice for story and dialogue at the end of the day).

not only shar cleric option is in the files, if you turn it on you would have very big amount of options that are very unique. its really strange it was cut from the game when it was basically completed.
