As stated above, mostly everyone has served a Dark Master. The only difference is that Astarion doesn't care about evil, because he actually enjoys evil. He desires dark power, while the reasons for the others are very different, and they know very well that Tav is making a mistake, unlike Astarion.

Lae'zel is the most unabashedly truthful person in the entire game, to the point that she doesn't understand the concept of compliments because she only speaks highly of those who truly impress her, therefore they're truths and not compliments. With that in mind, I find it incredibly endearing that she is very loud and affirmative about not leaving your side while also being extremely vocal about not approving of your choice. She'll follow you anywhere, even if she thinks your choices are stupid and damnable. Except if you become a wretched ghaik. She would not love you if you were a worm. Edit: Just found out that Lae'zel will, in fact, love you if you were a worm. Best girl.

I have 250+ hours, but I haven't finished the game yet since restarting my OG save for Lae'zel and having two other saves for Shadowheart and Karlach 😂 Bae'zel is irresistible.

Kudos to the guy that expects Durge to risk his life constantly for people who are too afraid to fight for their own damn lives, but then if he cracks against a foe that no amount of skill/cunning/strength would make him capable of walking away from (no one knows that Withers would have stepped in, if Durge doesn't reject Bhaal), well he should have just been ready to be tortured and die I guess. That is why Astarion is right, heroes are the problem. It's okay to be afraid for your life, and act out of fear IF AND ONLY IF the hero decides you are someone that is worthy of compassion. No one should be able to say with a straight face that it suddenly became wrong to kill those spawn just because someone managed to get something good out of what needed to happen anyway. When you really think about the non-ascension choices, killing the spawn is the most morally correct option available to the player. We aren't actually given the most morally correct option, but it makes sense because the circumstances in the game don't really allow the time for such a thing to be an available choice. So that said, if killing them is the right answer, what even are we talking about here? Why shouldn't the person who has risked so much helping to save the world, and who is also a victim, get something back when the cost of it is something that has to happen anyway? Is any one calling us evil when we loot corpses of people we had to kill because the absolute took control over them? Some of them are just as innocent as the spawn, how dare we benefit from them having to be killed? The truth is, someone on the team was just a little too obsessed with forcing a 'cycle of abuse' angle, and then used manipulation to try to convince players this is an evil choice, so that they could smoke and mirror us into thinking he is 'just like Cazador', when nothing could be further from the truth, objectively speaking. This garners support for their obviously flawed decision to have Tav/Durge react to Astarion the way they do in the kiss scenes and some of the dialogue options regarding their relationship. Fortunately/unfortunately, many of us see through it.

It also makes him super fucking powerful and when paired with the rest of his personality he kinda is a bit of an asshole if you get on his nerves because he thinks himself superior (to which I must say, fuck around with Bhaal's Chosen, and find out what happens). Depending on your moral framework, Ascending Astarion might be a moral imperative. However, without a doubt in the eyes of the Gods, it is an evil act that draws upon the infernal powers of Mephistopheles, which *will* have ramifications in the afterlife. So I guess you just have to ask yourself, is improved immortality worth being conscripted into the Blood War when you reach your final death?

Possibly vlaakith loyalist Lae'zel, shar shadowheart, and astarion, minthara, but the others have so much potential to go evil and they didnt utilise that. Imagine fueled by hate karlach, or wyll mad after the death of his dad turning evil.. or power hungry gale up to 10 turning into a lich.

The thing is that once you accept Bhaal heritage, you can't go back. You can eventually betray him in the end, but you are going to get a fate worse than death, being a mindless killing machine. At this point of the story you should just put Dark Urge out of his misery, if you really love him

Oh hell yes. Jaheria died in my playthrough but from early on I thought there was going to be a moment where my companions turned on me. But Jaheria died at Last Light so they never did. I thought it was going to be me, Astarion and MAYBE Gale vs everyone. I was so surprised a situation like this never triggered. I'm replaying Durge now, and this time it's with Party Limit Begone (which means I should be able to keep Jaheria alive). If I have like 7 companions gang up on me at the same time, this is gonna be so damn cool.

If you kill Isobel then you don’t get the lover kill scene, so nobody confronts you to this extent except for Jaheria as included in the clip. Nobody even cares when I go around murdering randos for the Bhaal rp of it all.

⁠@@galaxychar if you kill Isobel pre gauntlet of Shar you won’t get the lover kill scene, you can spare Isobel the first time you meet her at last light, progress the game up until the Nightsong which should give you the lover scene during a rest between meeting Isobel and freeing Nightsong, after you free Nightsong you can immediately head back to last light and kill Isobel which will give you all the resist scenes, allow you to save most of last light, mostly avoid pissing off your party and give you the Slayer all in one go, with virtually no downsides to boot

I did everything as evil as I could with my Durge playthrough and I made shadowheart kill the nightsong and become Shar's chosen, and I'm not sure if it was here but she said something along the lines of "guess we both accepted our gods then"

I'd like to point out that if you pay attention to DUrge's expressions, they seem to be moved the most by Shadowheart and Karlach. Karlach's appeal especially seems to make the DUrge show genuine pained regret on her face, like she so badly wants to change her mind and resist.

I like playing Dark Urge cuz it plays into the Theme of BG3 that we are more then our past. I notice there's a bug theme in the Characters of this game. That some of them have done unspeakable things or bad things or stupid things for someone they cared about in the past or thought they cared about. That we can be more then the sum of our parts.

i absolutely loved karlach from this line on, because minc, jaheira and her were my only compamions. When she and minsc left me that really hurt (they tried to kill me later). Karlach later also left me before the final battle aftwr killing gortash (but that was relatable), so i stood alone with the mindflayer also as a mindflayer and killed the elderbrain just to become a mindless bahlspuppy and kill everyone a bit later

My last playthrough i was Romancing Shadowheart and kept her with Shar to see what it changes, she can stay with you while a nightsinger, it just becomes a conversation about it first
