That's all well and good. Super video and Revenge was a sensational album. Nevertheless, it is very strange to me how Kiss (Paul + Gene) seem to have forgotten their longtime drummer Eric Carr very quickly. Eric Carr was dead less than 6 months at that time. Metallica still pay homage to their former bassist Clive Burton at every concert after almost 40 years. That is decency!

This is all so phony and contrived from Gene and Paul. They talk about “going back to their roots” and “doing club shows for the fans.” What was really happening is that they recognized the new grunge movement in music and harder-edged rock bands, like Pantera, and they (once again) changed their sound to try to ride that wave. And, btw, I say this as a lifelong Kiss fan. Kiss, ever since their solo albums have constantly tinkered with and changed their sound to follow popular trends or capitalize on some perceived opportunity. Dynasty - disco era Unmasked - power pop/early MTV era The Elder - trying to recreate Destroyer out of desperation because of losing fans Lick it Up - having to change their image because of terrible album and concert sales Animalize/Asylum/Crazy Nights/Smashes, Thrashes & Hits - glam rock era Revenge/Carnival of Souls - grunge era Psycho Circus/Sonic Boom - reunion era Everything with Gene and Paul after the original four broke apart has been a calculated business move
