The Destroyer stage was badass. Still my favorite.

I agree - the Love Gun stage gets a lot of love, but that Destroyer stage was just KILLER!

Yes, the very best. Especially early on the Destroyer tour when all of it were in use. Even the tesla lightning machine behind the drumkit is operational here. Don't get much cooler than that.

I was lucky to have seen this tour, roughly 3 weeks before this show. My dad drove three of my friends and me 2 1/2 hours when I was 13.

What's amazing is a show like this would still blow apart most rock shows of today. Kiss were so ahead of the live show game. So nice to hear Paul's voice so loud and clear, Ace sounding awesome, Gene sounding super badass, and Peter stitching it all together. The absolute glory days of Kiss, a very long time ago.

There’s something about the look of this on 8 mm, that just looks amazing to me. The colors, the clarity. I would love to have a dvd of a KISS concert from this era, either a really well shot boot, or pro-shot, that looked as good as this 8mm. Maybe even a 16mm?! Anyway, thanks for sharing this, it was a great time to be a KISS fan!!

I love watching footage from this tour. To me the Destroyer tour stage was the most effective of all the stages that came after. It was dark and compact with all the buildings/castle ruins, rocks and lightning. It was like a real sci-fi/horror show. And for whatever reason, the least filmed and subsequently rarest of all vintage KISS footage. It came and went so fast-sandwiched between ALIVE! tour stage and the Rock and Roll Over Tour stage.
@primateproductions1264 ай бұрын
I agree 100 %. Something about that stage setup just totally fit their image.

@@ajjy1110 LG/A2 stage was definitely “peak” KISS and probably the absolute plateau in terms of the KISS stage evolution. They had become multimillionaires and the show was an over the top bombardment of the senses. The Destroyer stage OTOH was dark, compact and thematically powerful with a band that was still young, aggressive and hungry. It was just special..

I know exactly how you feel. It drove me crazy knowing they were in town only about 25 minutes from my house and I couldn't go. I had to wait until the Asylum tour to see them. At least we have footage like this we can watch. I wish Ozzy would have had shows filmed with Randy Rhoads like KISS did, but that's another story.

Any video footage of this particular Destroyer stage is very rare. With the turrets, the space crystals and the overhead lightning bolts. The perfect union where wild rock and roll music meets science fiction, complete escapism we could embrace for our very own.

The 2 sided staircases where Peter's drum set in between actually became the idea for the longer staircases that was lighted for the Tokyo Japan 77 stage & the Love Gun stage with addition of the double elevated platforms that lowered Gene on the right, Paul & Ace on the left to the stage
