I truly love how you seem to be the embodiment of grown-up Sid from the original Toy Story, but after he figured out how to love himself, got his life on track and ultimately conquered his childhood trauma of witnessing toys come to life and nearly dismantle him.

watching you kitbash or paint something is always an injection of unbridled fun. You make me want to drop whatever I am doing at the moment and go kitbash some weird monstrosity. I really love how you approach the hobby. Thank you for sharing your work with us!

Amazing! But okay, so here is an idea for a table set piece or theme of some sorts: You could create the... factory/workshop/warehouse/laboratory (* whatever kind of place it could be considered as?) where these monsters or units are made or "born" by some kind of team of mad zealots and scientists. All kinds of weird equipment and half-finished poor souls, pools of liquids and parts and limbs... etc. Edit: Could have different departments or sections, hah! Cheers!

Your approach to kitbashing makes the process actually seem like something I wanna try. Usually it seems like such a scary, alien territory, but from your videos I’ve learned that’s where the fun is

while it's not one of my favourite pieces you've done, the process that went into making the portal baby was absolutely sick! and good on you for trying new techniques with painting, though I'm missing a little of the clarity of your usual work

You can fix that stickiness with talc, or by taking the paint off with meths. (I heard you can bake it .. on a car dashboard). Just had a similar problem with Bones miniatures.

With rubberY toys, you can heat treat them to remove that tackiness. I am sure other people beat me to it but take a small torch to it from a distance and get it hot, but not too hot that it melts and boom the paint isnt tacky on the rubber toy parts!

8:05 no need to varnish before what I assume are mineral spirits that you used to make the oil wash. Mineral spirits (white spirits) don't interact with acrylics. However, if the spray paints you used are not water based, then you might be right about sealing them first.
@Miscast
@Miscast Жыл бұрын
Every major acrylic brand I have access to contains some sort of solvent that if you're too aggressive painting will lift. Some less than others, some won't if you let them dry/de-gas for a few days/weeks. The mineral spirits are reacting with the spray paint solvent left on the model rather than the acrylic paint itself I'm assuming. Much safer and faster to seal with a light varnish coat. If I prime the models with a spray paint and handprint/airbrush the rest it's the same problem the solvent penetrates to the primer and lifts. That's GW brand, Rustoelum, White Knight, Dulux and some others I can't remember I use.
@Wijkert
@Wijkert Жыл бұрын
@@Miscast fair enough. I usually use the airbrush instead of spray cans and don't seal acrylics before oil washes and have never had any problems. The rubbing itself can be an issue though, not the solvent that reactivates the paint.
@Miscast
@Miscast Жыл бұрын
Totally! Also I use Matte, Satin and Gloss varnish for different effects with the oil wash, it behaves differently on the different surface textures. Good to experiment with if you haven't already.
