Kitchen Manager Fired For Giving Lunch To Students Without Money

Della Curry is out of work, and unashamed, after being fired by the Cherry Creek School District.
A married mother of two, Curry is the former kitchen manager at Dakota Valley Elementary School in Aurora. She lost her job on Friday after giving school lunches to students who didn’t have any money.
“I had a first grader in front of me, crying, because she doesn’t have enough money for lunch. Yes, I gave her lunch,” Curry said.
In the district, students who fail to qualify for the free lunch or reduced lunch program receive one slice of cheese on a hamburger bun, and a small milk.
Curry says that meal is not sufficient. Many times she paid for lunches out of her own pocket.
“I’ll own that I broke the law. The law needs to change,” she said.
To qualify for the free lunch program, a family of four would have to have a household income of around $31,000. To qualify for a reduced lunch, the threshold is below $45,000.
Curry says the students she helped did not qualify for either program.
“Kids whose parents make too much money to qualify, but a lot of times they don’t have enough money to eat,” she said.
Parent Darnell Hill says Curry had helped out his son when he forgot his lunch money.
He said, “Do something different than fire her. She’s trying to help.”

You people need to stop 🛑 worried about kids quality or not , this is a kid an angel . Please feed the kids America can do much better than this , not color , forget about this . Let’s be so kind and loving each other, God can visit us at every day and night. Every body on this planet 🌎 has eyes on America. Please so please give us another chance to save lives. We are making our own currencies luckily we are not dependent of other countries. Waked up waked up America Because God doesn’t like this .

Shame on Dakota Valley Elementary. She was helping the students and she gets fired from the school. How humiliating. Dakota Valley staff from 6 years ago you should be ashamed and embarrassed. Even after 6 years you should still have guilt for your actions against Della Curry.

Della Curry should be head of the program, I mean if we can give more money to immigrants than those who have worked all their life and paid into Social Security , then surely we can pay for these lunches without being a Bit h about it. Hire her back and increase her pay and face up to being really responsible, after all Della Curry would make a real R.M. E., andif you don't know what that means well it means A Responsible Managing Employee which none of the other people who were involved in misconduct by firing Della Curry.
