While not incredibly exciting, trimming your kite is important. It's imperative if you unhook and it does help you jump better if your kite is set up correctly.
Let's be honest, no one likes it when their kite isn't flying right!

Excellent tip as always thanks Blake. 👍 As an old windsurfer, now kiter, Neil Pryde had a saying “it doesn’t matter how you rig it, so long as you rig it right” 🤣. Trimming anything for wind usage is so often misunderstood.for such an important aspect of wind sports/transport. Keep up the great work 👌

Thank you so much! I’ve been struggling for ages and I watched this and went out the next day in Tarifa and this made all the difference, I was up and riding on both sides - never been able to get up on my right side and was perfect 👌🏼 still loads to learn but really this was a huge jump in progression, my kite was trimmed all out like you say as I thought that was the max power thing and actually now sheeted all the way in is super comfy and means the kite doesn’t stall. Thank you so much!!!!

Honestly I tried your hints but I think the "problem" I have are the spots I kite at. I'm very often at light wind spots where I'm really underpowered with my 12m^2 and weight. In this situation I like to have the adjuster full out because then I get the experience at what positions exactly I have to put the bar for the very light wind riding. I think as soon as I'd be properly powered and had some room to play your adjuster guide would make more sense. Sadly that almost never happens... Maybe I have to rethink my gear.

I find it easier just to think of trim like fine adjusting ones sheeting to get the optimal point of power.

I just love your instructional videos. Made my first hand drag transition last week with your video. Could you do a video on how to untwist your lines on the water when your four line Kite has inverted and the steering lines are twisted with the front lines?? Please?

Hanswurstguckindielu thank you very much! Stoked for you on the hand drag transition, such a fun trick🙏🏻. Will do! That’s a great idea for a video, I’m adding it to the list. It’s going to be a while because we have quite a few in the line up but I will make it for sure. Cheers man!

Thanks for the video always thought the same way u did, the type of kite wont matter when trimming right (softkite, c-kite and so on)? Could u do a video on how to hold an edge when the wind picks up and ur way overpowerd suddenly or u choose the wrong size kite and u still want to practice (guess why im asking :). Keep up the great work, these are the best tutorials with the most helpful info if seen so far.

denniz122 you are welcome! That’s a great idea for a video, thank you for the idea I will add it to the list. We have quite a few things lined up, in the mean time you can use this advice. I like to ride quite overpowered myself 😄. I find that when you are super overpowered, keeping the kite lower in the wind window with the bar sheeted almost all the way out helps a lot. If your kite is too high then you will get pulled off your edge no matter how hard you try. Also edging straight into the wind helps dump a lot of the wind and power and allows you to keep riding. Then when you are ready to jump, slowly bring the kite up higher and send it with the bar fully sheeted out. Pull in on the bar right and twelve and boost to the moon! Hope that helps in the meantime and I will get on that video as soon as I can. Cheers!

Nice thank u very much for the tips. I was practicing in 25kn with a 13m kite with my under 70kg and i was properly powered for a beginner who just learned to waterstart and turn. I quite liked the power but when the gust hit i just accelerated lost the edge and got pulled over on the beach :D and of cause i "trimmed" the kite very wrong as i learned from this video. Flying the kite lower is a great tip never thought of that. Anyway keep up the great work!

The 3 mount point at the wingtip / hand diagram was confusing. So you're saying the mount "closest" to the front of the kite give you the most steering? Did you mean to say the mount point furthest from the front of the kite give you most steering most likely to stall the kite?
