For those who are wondering, once her egg is starting to become almost fully grown, she is forced to fast for a while until she lay her egg. Her egg is so big it won't even leave any space inside for her stomach and guts to do anything at all. Since kiwis' reproductive method is so risky to themselves, kiwis cannot reproduce any faster to be able to recover their declining population so multiple rehabilitation centers keep their eyes out for any pregnant kiwis / eggs, making sure to take in as many kiwis as they can find to increase their chance of survival with their professional cares and release them back in the wild.
