Having worked for a Chinese state owned company for 10+ years and eaten all kinds of interesting things, my guess is the 'scone' is a moon cake of sorts and the 'sausage' is probably a kind of jerky that did not need to be heated. Great job on this!

Kiwi Dude, could you speed up some part? Like while taking MREs out of the big bag, could you cut that out? Please just quickly show each one of them with a quick explanation. I love your videos, but what really uninterests me is that there are really long pauses and unnecesary moments that should have been cut out. Don't make these changes if you don't feel like it. It is just something I found that could help you improve. :D

The purpose of the hole at the top of the outer bag is twofold, firstly to allow the bag to compress during storage without keeping air inside, and secondly for high altitude use where air contained in such a bag would expand due to the pressure difference and potentially burst the bag causing a bit of a mess.

The ration you are testing is called 09单兵自热食品(literally 2009 Individual Soldier Self-heat Food). The good news is that the 2013 version is out now! One thing I would like to point out, the pilot biscuit comes with 7 flavor. And the 13单兵自热视食品( the 2013 version Chinese PLA ration) comes with 4 recipes! Tell your wife to buy it on TaoBao. 4 Packages of ration and all 7 flavor biscuit would only cost about 20 US Dollars.

Honestly MREs are better than what schools are serving the kids in them. In my opinion and apparently many others, i know there are exceptions like nicer and private schools but in general. Thats very sad that a survival MRE has more caloric content than school food and tastes better and is even often cheaper.
@felixiris36158 жыл бұрын
Cringe Content Funny, you can't even spell JROTC. I was in AFJROTC for all four years of highschool. I was also in all four drill teams we had, and was the lead of two of them, I'm currently in College AFJROTC, in which over summer we literally went to boot camp just to show us how it really is, or at least as much as they were able to show us, the sodium is a preservative, nothing more, and moreover, the macronutrients are more tuned for survival in a wilderness situation. Again, when school lunches are even worse for your body than a meal meant to last for years and tailored for you to be able to survive in the wilderness, and yet still has more and better macronutrients in it is still appalling.
@peteryuan69098 жыл бұрын
School lunches aren't edible. MREs are actually edible.
@lethal_dragon16908 жыл бұрын
School lunchs fucking suck I'd rather eat the same exact mre everyday for for years than that shit they call food. And the best part is mres have salt!
@peteryuan69098 жыл бұрын
If only the government would update the food standard for schools.
@felixiris36158 жыл бұрын
Cringe Content oh that is fine, that's one thing, but i mean in an extreme, school lunches are not just worse than mres, they're worse than food served in prison. now THATS sad.

my highschool lunches were delicious, then again, we were a trade school so im sure that factored in, we had so many choices, the main lunch, then either salad, pizza or chicken wings instead (deciding on what day) and there was a seperate cold sandwich area as well we also got hot soup as a side as well as a slice of cake (you had to pay extra for that) or a brownie

I wonder if different menus are corresponding to different cooking genres (since people from different province have very different food favors), and that's the reason why there's so many menus. Also, this is actually the first time I see what's inside these Chinese MREs, because even in the military museum in Beijing, they only show the package, but not what's inside (not even the pictures).

chopaface I'm pretty sure the German packs that he reviewed were 24 hour packs designed for soldiers who are out on really long missions so that's why it contained a lot more entrees and meals. This just looks like a pack designed for soldiers who are only going to be out in the field for only a couple hours
@jackm26779 жыл бұрын
+chopaface its very simple to solve, just open another pack.

+Skip “Setmee” Nade the Chinese one doesn't look that different in the amount of food to the Australian 1 man ration packs that were supposed to last us 1 day. With all the sugar water and beverage powder I think the Chinese one is also for a day.
@MrGoatflakes9 жыл бұрын
+jack m you only get given a set number of them per day, then only if resupply permits. If something goes wrong you can sometimes be shit out of luck.

+Skip “Setmee” Nade yeah lots of crap in it, plus two sets of fuel for the heating thing.

For the record, that "Storable Scone" looks suspiciously like a Chinese moon cake, or perhaps a simplified MRE variation that got lost in translation.

i don't feel these rations suit for growing children...all bags of chemical.
@都护铁衣冷难着将军金8 жыл бұрын
But this is safe , without chemical . I can totally read the. They haven't chemical. You know, all for army. But I think it's not good for children. It's too spicy.

the chinese and Japanese dont steep their tea for very long,just thought you should know that. usually five or eight minutes,they would reuse the tea bag several times.
@chriss.93988 жыл бұрын
That is quite interesting. So would they just dry out the bag and use it again to be conservative or just because of short supplies?
@MinhVo-cp6gy8 жыл бұрын
+Chris S. Maybe it just means that one teabag could be used multiple times at a single time
