In this Chinese MRE Review (Type 09' Menu 1), we check out a moderately decent quality ration with some unusual components. And one of the most efficient FRH's (Flameless Ration Heater) ever made. Also a quick look at Menu 9 of this MRE. It turned green.
Up next for Chinese Rations will be a Chinese Air Force Ration from mrezone.com/

My friend used to serve in PLA and he said nobody eats those flameless self-heating meals at all. Instead, they have dedicated food truck equipped with some really nice kitchen equipment and a dozen cooks for every company. He did spend most of his time deployed in the Southern borders so that could be one of the reasons.

One of my earliest memories was eating those canned beef egg rolls as a child in 80s China! I remember them as being utterly delicious...basically like hot-dogs wrapped in an omelette (the canned version was much juicier) but I'm sure that memory's been distorted by nostalgia 😂 . The heated egg rolls were probably meant to be an accompaniment to the main meal, as plain rice tends to be too dull and Chinese people usually mix that with a saltier meat/egg/veg dish. Even boiled, salted peanuts work well as a side dish to rice, instead of eating it plain.

I once got stuck in China during the Chinese New Year and since all the shops were closed and the city seemed completely dead, I had to survive on canned food and rice cooked in a cheap rice cooker. Canned mushrooms and other stuff with spicy sauces were indeed unedible, but most of the canned fish was surprisingly good. And beans were also nice, I guess even the Chinese can't mess the canned beans up :D

@bcreech17
@bcreech17 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, certain bases/provinces/countries DO take recycling extremely seriously, even with regard to MRE’s. In my experience, during training at 29 Palms, we were required to literally separate our MRE’s by composition prior to discarding them, even to the point of having to activate our ration heater with water had we not used it.
@sirbillius
@sirbillius 3 жыл бұрын
@Yup They also emit 30% of all greenhouse gasses worldwide. Granted the US has a higher contribution per person but that’s defiantly because of our penchant for automobiles. The solution to that seems far off sadly.
@sirbillius
@sirbillius 3 жыл бұрын
@Yup I said being eco friendly wasn’t a priority of china’s in general. I thought I should compare China with the US so as to avoid being a hypocrite demonizing China when the US is also pretty bad with pollution.

@ProtomanButCallMeBlues
@ProtomanButCallMeBlues 6 жыл бұрын
+MrFuggleGuggle No, that's incredibly bad. If you're out in the field you want your food to provide as much caloric intake as possible. It's why special ops purposely shock your metabolism to a crawl. You want a soldier that only needs to eat once a day and feel fine, as opposed to a soldier that gets hungry every 5-6 hours, and can't function. Maybe in garrison life it's fine. But I doubt they'd be eating this stuff outside the field.

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a nice Christmas with family, friends, and hopefully an MRE thrown in there at some point. It's great to be back after visiting some family for the holidays and here are two new videos tonight. This Chinese Type 09' and also a Canadian IMP. Oldsmokey just did a review on a Chinese Special Operations Food Packet kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ2XipaYYr2smJo Totally worth checking this one out while on the subject of Chinese Rations. PLA has more types of rations currently in service than any other country.

Yeah that pound cake. Nah. It looked like it was still in a wrapper. Maybe it was a waxy case you were supposed to somehow peel off? Kinda like the babybel cheese. I was confused at those cheeses when I was younger and ate the wax coating along with the cheese. Ok I'm getting carried away thanks for the upload Steve.

The most satisfying thing is watching you finish the whole MRE a lot of other videos even ones that aren’t MREs but are taste tests people just eat a bite then throw it out (presumably) but you show the clean tray.

In Japan, when you go to most restaurants. They have realistic plastic versions of what you can order so you know what it's going to look like before you get it. When I saw those stabilized eggrolls, pound cake and everything else, it honestly looked like those plastic versions you would see in Japan, But far worse and cheaper. It almost looks likes those Fisher-Price kitchen plastic foods, that come along with those miniature fake kitchens so kids can pretend to cook. .
