@@mepp7573 if he wraps up then they give up the first down. The Db went for the hard hit in order to break up the pass, I doubt he wanted to injure the reciever. Forcing OU to punt there would put all the early momentum into Baylor's favor. These athletes have played this game their whole lives and are very competitive about it, and most want to get into the NFL. You dont do that by giving up the first.
@cheeseeygamer29974 жыл бұрын
@@jaketaylor3571 yeah well brain injuries that may kill these players later in life aren't exactly humane. I will say that football is way less physical now then it should be, just look at all the bogus roughing the passer calls in the NFL this season to see that, but these are still human beings who will have to live normal lives after football, most play for the love of the game and not for the being almost killed for the enjoyment of others. If you take pleasure in seeing people get hit and injured by players like Vontaze Burfict then something is wrong with you.
@cheeseeygamer29974 жыл бұрын
@@mepp7573 the hit wasn't targeting. It got ruled as shoulder to shoulder contact at the end. The injury didn't even come directly from the hit, but from the receiver slamming his helmet into the ground like how most major concussions happen in football. As for the Db covering the reciever, he was already on the receiver by the sideline. Move away from him and then you give OU the chance for a sideline catch to move the chains. Sometimes bad shit happens due to the nature of the sport. To reduce injuries entirely then you'd have to get rid of the physical contact aspect of the sport which most fans and players would hate.

@killakam87389 жыл бұрын
Hawkeblade54 Haha I don't know if that was a cheap shot since home boy did see him and even started to lower his head but they do teach to tackle by wrapping up and that's one of the reasons why. @pokeman451210 жыл бұрын
I can respect the fact that the targeting rule is meant to protect players, but I mean what are you going to do if you find yourself about to be in a head on collision? Morton just reacted naturally as a defender and lowered his shoulder. Good thing his ejection was overruled...

tybraker27 The receiver was the one who dropped his head down. If the defender were to have gone down low too it would have been helmet to helmet. Problem with football nowadays is that when a hit like this happens, we automatically look for someone to blame. I don't see how the DB could have reacted differently here. Not a lot of time to. He didn't launch himself, he just lowered a shoulder. NCAA and the NFL just need to realize that every now and then you get a hit that's just plain nasty. Not the DB's fault. Not the receivers fault, but the fault of the fact that you're playing a game where the objective is to take down the man with the ball. Sometimes some bad shit'll happen that's perfectly legal. NCAA and NFL can't accept this. Reactionary logic. Big hit? Someone's hurt? Must have been a penalty. Or maybe you're playing a sport where injury is a bit inherent? Tough pill to swallow for organizations that have to put a happy spin on a sport that deals with so many serious injuries and potential brain issues down the road.
@slpater19 жыл бұрын
Rj Bertram the problem with ncaa is these are kids in college and most wont make it to the nfl. as in you want to protect their minds so they can still be competent human beings for the next 30-40 years atleast and have successful careers and lives. the nfl is just keeping dumb unecessary hits like helmet to helmet out. look at the seahawks, they're a disciplined team that doesnt tackle dirty and tackles great.
