While everyone else is off trying to break a millennium old doppleganger curse. As the story got crazier, it made sense for the writers to write him off after like season 1. But he stays and stays with no relevance to the story.

I absolutely agree. It's an act of compassion for someone who is about to die. It's for him, not for her. She knows he's in love with her. So, she gives him the kiss he always wanted from her. A kiss before dying. They both know that's what it is. That's why Damon tells her "thank you" after she does it and she says "you're welcome". Not something you say to someone who is kissing you out of their own romantic feelings. It's a gift she was giving to him before he goes. It was a surprise to both of them that Damon would, actually, survive. Which then made it awkward... Haha! If Damon had actually died, there's no doubt in my mind that Stefan would have understood.

Doesn’t matter. It’s still cheating. The love triangle was the part that I hated the most. Not necessarily that they were in love with more than one person. But, how the people involved acted. Elena cheated. Damon went after his brothers girl. Stefan accepted it. Terrible choices. It ruined their characters for me. It also diverged from the novels too. While their was a triangle, Elena was ultimately Stefan’s soulmate, and Bonnie was Damon’s. Both couples had chemistry in the series. All it took was decent writing and they could’ve had the triangle drama for three seasons, and then settled into the set couples for the next three, and ended the show on a high note before Nina left. But nooooo, they had to drag it all out.

I didn’t mind the love triangle for a few seasons because they needed to get that part of the story out of their system but how do they go through the whole series with no character growth? Everyone went backwards. It should have been like the books with Stefan/Elena and Damon/Bonnie.

That was exactly the point. Warning: unneeded speech She was likeable so she died. Its the famed writer twist. Every writer does it at some point. No matter of its romance or mystery, TV or novel, etc. Its to be expected at this point which is y writers make a few likeable characters, usually, to make a characters death less predictable. TV shows often throw those sorts of characters to the background though, until their death, which makes it far easier to tell which likeable character's gonna die next. I apologize for the rant, this was meant to be short.

There are barely any crossovers between the two, and even when there are, they're not so significant that you need to watch them alongside each other. Or if you do start watching it, and you don't want any TVD spoilers, then it's best you start after Season 4 of TVD.

The thing with The Originals it’s that the episodes were aired one TVD one TO and so on and they have a few crossovers but you don’t HAVE to watch them in order if you don’t want! Can’t wait for next season (it’s one of the best) ❤️

They definitely mention and spoil certain things about what is going on in the originals in the later seasons of tvd and I would hate for you to get spoiled because of that.
