I’m in. Klim Engineering is impeccable. Love the look of this piece. Matching pants look fantastic a full on kit too. Make no mistake. Safety is paramount but Image is every thing!

I have the Previous Model - the original one - 150,000 Klicks, Never been wet even in tropical downpours, never been hot even in 45c - you wet the inside layer open the vents and you cool for 2 hrs. via evaporation. Never been cold -you layer up with wool long johns and tops. You can take a pee easy but # 2's need some planning as I use pant braces .Two offs, one in bulldust and the other on wet tar and only minor scuffs to the pants and Jackets and No broken bones only skin scuffs from the inside liner. Like Shoei Helmets, these are for people who understand you pay for protection only once and live many times after. I'm 70 years old and have ridden bikes since I could throw a leg. What I have learnt is a poor man pays twice.

@@gbner9991 have been on rides when its in the upper 90's and with all vents open it was fine as long as you are moving.......since I live in California, can't comment on how it would be in humidity. Also if you were off roading in a slow techincal section I''m sure you would be roasting. It's designed as a touring jacket not off-road.

@@staudio good to know as I’ve just purchased this jacket for my next trip from BC Canada- Yellowstone Park- Montana- Oregon down the PCH to San Jose then back home to Canada and was a little concerned it would get a little too hot down California way.

Do the Latitude jacket & trousers have short or long connection zips ?

Klim’s own website says it’s level 1 armour, not level 2 as mentioned in this video.

We've looked into this before and Klim have told us in the UK and Europe the jacket is supplied with Level 2 armour, while the American specification has Level 1 armour. That explains why our jacket (in Europe) has L2 and the spec on Klim's site (which is American) lists it as L1. Cheers, Tony

@@sportsbikeshop That explains it, thanks for the reply. Disappointing though as I wouldn’t buy the NA version of the Latitude because of the lower level armour. I’ve tried it on and the level 1 elbow armour is almost worthless.

can you put the kidney belt in jacket(sold separately?) next time open the jacket and show inner features too
@sportsbikeshop

This jacket does not have the slots to thread Klim's kidney belt through and leave it stored in the jacket. Thanks for your feedback. We have recently been showing the interior in our jacket videos, so apologies that this jacket was recorded before we made that change. Cheers, Tony

The Latitude has been redesigned since this review was published. The chest vents are now located lower down than before, sitting to the outer side of the pectoral muscles. From looking at the U.S. spec and European jacket, I think both have these vents. Unless you are referring to other zips? Cheers, Tony

@@sportsbikeshop Good afternoon I meant waist-expanding zippers on the side, the American version had them. An interesting fact is that the differences are not only in size and protection. Do you know if any chest protection will be included in this jacket?

Ah, I see. We've caught up with America now then, as we have those zips on the updated model. There's no chest armour in the newer model, and no pockets for it to be added. Cheers, Tony

I wanted one of these until I tried one on. The elbow padding didn’t cover my elbow, it was slid down over my forearm. And the shoulder padding seemed inadequate. Disappointing for such an expensive jacket.

Nice review and also nice jacket. It's a bit pricey, but I am also sick of having a wet sack as the outer layer in my traditional onion layered setup. Not sure about the venting on this one, though. From the looks of it i fear it might be too little when it's really warm.

Hi Michael, I litterally bought this suit on Saturday and was out for 196 miles on Sunday in 21degree heat in Wales. I had all the vents open and just a T-Shirt and base layer on my legs and I was on the cooler side of comfortable. Vents done up at 16 degrees and I needed an extra layer inside to stay warm so in winter I would layer up and wear my Heated jacket. I recon this would comfortably go up to high 20s before you have a problem with being too hot.

Hi Tony, I have decided I'm going to buy a klim suit. I had intended on buying a badlands but all my riding is on the road. I do ride all year round, commuting and also a few trips away. Would I be better off with the latitude instead? I like the layering idea, liners are a pain in the rear and being from Ireland I need a waterproof jacket for hot summer days too! I don't travel too far in the winter just 60km a day. I'm thinking the Kodiak might be overkill, on the bike and wallet.
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, nothing will be perfect for all seasons, but I think you have solid reasons there to go for the Latitude. It won't be as good as the Kodiak in winter, but it'll be better in summer. This may sound really hacky, but having a cheap waterproof to throw over the top when winter gets really cold and wet might be a good idea. I know some very experienced riders who swear by that method as you've got double rain protection and extra cold resistance too. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

so this jacket will keep you dry, act as a wind breaker in cooler weather with the vents closed, and allow air flow in the hot with the vents open? is that correct?

Hi Tony....brilliant review so as others on this channel. Reasonably long (and could be even longer) very informative and very well presented. However, are you sure about level 1& 2 protection? As you have mentioned that elbow and shoulder is L2 but in product description it is L1 everywhere which is a big downside for me when considering to purchase this combo. Also, I hope there are pocket for chest protectors? Thank you.

Hi Jozef. When I research these videos I get the armour out and check the markings, so I'm pretty confident it will be L2 as stated in the video. I'm away from the studio this week so can't check that, or about the chest armour facility, until I'm back in next week. I'll have a look as soon as I'm back and come back to you. Thanks for getting in touch, and for your kind comments on the review. Cheers, Tony

Would it be fair to say this is a slightly lower spec of the Kodiak? In the same way the Carlsbad is to the Badlands?
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 2 жыл бұрын
There are similarities, but the Kodiak does a different job really and is a heavier-duty option when compared to the Latitude. The Kodiak outer is three-layer Gore-Tex laminate so it's bulkier as well as more rain-resistant, there are more pockets and there's the separate puffa-type inner jacket with the Kodiak as well. The Kodiak is for year-round, all-weather riding and I would say more focused on road riding. The Latitude is lighter, better suited to more favourable weather conditions and would be good for people who are mixing road and dirt riding. That's my take on it anyway. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

This looks like a Carlsbad with less pockets, a worse waterproofing membrane and inferior armour. I picked up a Carlsbad jacket and pants for 1300 Canadian dollars on sale tax included. Thats 760 GBP.

What are the main differences between the Badlands jacket and the Latitude. I know the price is much greater on the Badlands, it also has front pockets. But is Latitude more catered towards the sport touring market?
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've not got direct personal experience of the Badlands Pro, but I've done some digging and that is just a level up from the Latitude. It's three-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell, so the rain defence will be stronger (though it will also be heavier and less flexible than the Latitude). The Badlands Pro is Klim's ultimate adventure travel product for riders who want the pinnacle. Both are for travel, but I'd expect the Badlands to be a little more suited to all weathers, and a bit tougher in case the riding gets hairy. I hope that helps, and thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
