Hi, I've been using Klim Latitude for 4 years, riding 50,000 km. I'm from Lithuania, where it often rains heavily. I've never used any rain gear, and Klim Latitude is 100% waterproof, even in heavy and all-day rain. If it's not the case, then something might be wrong with your washing.

My experience has been just the opposite. My klim latitude suit has about 30,000 miles on it. Many rain and even snow storms. 100 degree days. I’ve never been wet and with all the vents open I’ve had adequate ventilation.

Kenneth, if you're going to travelling in warm/hot weather where you'll sweat a lot, you need to stop wearing cotton 'T'shirts ( keep the Logo shirts for your days off the bike) and especially underpants and get functional underwear that transports the sweat away from your body. I myself have underwear fom 'DANE' which does this and also is warm in cold weather. Over which I wear an Ortema protection jacket (including Chest and KidneyProtection) that then enables me to dispense of the prtectoren in both my REVIT SOMMER MESH jacket and also my allweather( it has a waterproof membrane) jacket and trousers, thus enabling me to pack them smaller and save space in my luggage. For good measure I also have a rainsuit for those torrential downpours. As I also wear strap on knee protectors this also allows me to remove the original from the trousers. The only original protectors left in both trousers are the ones for the hips. In very hot climates the protection jacket can also be worn by itself without anything over/under it. As far as stomach protection goes, there isn't any on the market as this is an area of the body that is allways being flexed, the belt that you mentioned, which sadly you still don't wear is a 'Kidney Belt', which in most cases is secured around the waist by overlapping elastic Velcro extensions. This doubling up of material over the waistband of your trousers does give a bit more padding to your stomach but to what extent of protection it would give in the case of your accident would be questionable. For your Kidney's sake tho' get a belt, they're one of your most important organs. I hope this helps you (and Marion) to make the best decisions without compromising your safety.

Goretex warranty is "Guarantee to keep you dry for Life". Was the suit with proper soap. If it still leaks Goretex will give you a new one.

I have a Klim Marrakesh/Zephyr combo, along with some single-layer riding jeans, a Rab thermal jacket and a Mosko Moto’s Rak jacket and pants for putting over it all in wet weather. Substitute thermal and wet weather brand of your choice. The Marrakesh/Zephr is the key part. That combo takes me from 0 to 35 degrees with no problems. Robust, comfortable and easy to clean. I’ve had the all-in-one suits before, but those layers work better I find. The Marrakesh in particular is way more comfortable than a laminated suit and dries extremely quickly if it gets wet/washed.

My little nephew once wrote KLIM on a door, with a red crayon. It was scary at the time, I didn't know what it meant. I first saw it when i looked in the mirror.

I bought a Rukka suit, it keeps me warm and dry in all conditions, the quilted liner is removable for warmer conditions, it is a little heavy but you get used to it, they are very expensive though. If you are doing day trips from home you can easily have several suits for different seasons, but when you are traveling long term like you are it's difficult to get a suit that will be good for all seasons and conditions.

I live in Australia so I have experienced all types of weather. I have also ridden in South Africa - again all types of weather. For that reason I chose the Badlands Suit and like Christopher's comments below have never been wet wearing the Badlands suit. Cold on occasions yes. I think a warm liner would be a great improvement. However no matter the brand /model etc. all Gortex suits need regular cleaning and proofing to maintain the waterproofing. Zippers likewise benefit from a regular lubrication. Never had any issues with the fly zipper. Enjoy your regular travelling videos. Cheers from Down Under. Grant

I’ve had Badlands for nearly five years. Have refreshed once. Totally waterproof no issues. Is my preferred suit when I know the weather could be variable saves stopping to put on rain gear.

Excellent review. Definitely a real world long duration test. I currently wear Dianese, Kina wears Oxford. Both are fine as long as conditions don't go extreme. We wear waterproof over suits if it pours, ir is really cold. No textile suit will be ideal when it's hot, but if you only take one, all weather jacket, it's the best comprise. I've heard a lot of good things about revit, which is also a reasonable price comprise. Rukka is apparently good too, but expensive. Ride safe, happy travels 👍

After all the suits I bought, from cheap to expensive (It's all the same) in decades of biking, I go with layers. Allways protector jacket, shorts and orthese, the rest depends on the weather. Just a shirt when it's hot, thermo and windbreaker under a robust jacket when it's cold and a rain suit (jacket and trousers) when it's raining, or just the rain trousers when driving on wet ground or through puddles. That way I'm very well prepared for really every condition. If your protection is fixed in the suit you have to wear it whatever the conditions are. There is no way around. Goretex while there are 30C°+ is a real pain and you will get sticky and well cooked. All the 'waterproof' stuff will fail after some time. So you are carrying a rain suit beside a expensive waterproof bikecombi - no way. And there is another huge benfit in my onion technique. Most of my layers are multiusable. I can wear shirt, thermo and/or windbreaker, rain layer when not riding. It's all small packed and leads to less luggage and weight on my bike. A lot of manufacturers like Adventure Spec or Rev'it are also on that path since a couple of years. I'm really happy and very pleased with this decision I made more than 10 years ago.

Take the jacket, take out all the protection ,through it away,go buy a full body armour, buy 2 large enduro shirts and you will be safe and cool (in temperature) for 18 to 40+ degrees. When travelling below 18 celsius, just keep the armour on and replace the shirts with the jacket with or with out the themal layers, extra clothes etc. If the clothes are not perfectly comfortable on the motorcycle ,especially in such long travels, they are not safe either.Keep that in mind.😊

Thanks for honestly opinion on the Klim suit. I use a Rukka suit and have similar experience. It is a bit heavy, but comfortable to drive on the road. It all depends on what your destination will be as the next possible new gear. The type of draft gear you want mainly depends on your tour and destination. If I were going for new gear, I might go for a layered construction. A standard jacket with armor and a separate warm inner layer and a separate thin raincoat for rainy conditions. This way you can handle all circumstances and still waers comfortably.

A jacket with pit zips, back zips and side zips (zippered/vented adjustable openings) are a must as are taped seams. Gortex and all the other breathable waterproof materials are only good to a certain point- there is a numbered rating (heavier the better) . The only true waterproof garment is rubber or vinyl (ask any pro fisherman) but you get wet with sweat. I frequently wash my Gortex and have to spray it with a "Gortex refresher" after...not sure how that effects breathability (which is the point of Gortex like materials). As my jackets have aged and worn thinner, they are less waterproof. One of my heavier jackets lasts about an hour and forty-five minutes before it starts to soak in at hiking speeds and constant heavyish rain. There are several rivals to Gortex. "eVENT" , for example is a good product. Gortex Pro is supposed to be a superior product but spendy. As far as durability of the clothing, the breathable membranes are only as durable as the material it is paired with . Your suit seems to have held up and protected you (except from water and that horrible accident) well.

Would avoid Halvarsson's. Even though it's a Swedish company it has been the coldest suit I've ever worn. It was their "Prime" jacket. Can't remember what the matching pants were. Remained waterproof for about 3 years. When camping I'd use a rain suit over the top to stop it soaking up the water. Had a Revit Sand II jacket with removable liners. Nice and cool for mid to high 20deg C with it all open. Wasn't that waterproof back then. Hoping that it has improved as I think I'll get the new one. I think most textiles will be too hot for African sun. Mesh with armour

Thanks for the usefull information. I always believed that Klim is 100% waterproof. I have the Revit Sand 4 and I must say its fantastic in all climates. It comes with 2 additional layers (1 rain, 1 thermal) and its completely comfortable ridding in the winter(0 degrees-no thermals) and summer(up to 35 degrees). It has a ton of ventilation that actually works very well. I have a full mesh summer jacket which I dont use anymore, because Revit does it all. I have also ridden in heavy rain with the waterproof liner and stayed completely dry. Ok its true that you have to take the liners in and out, but they attach to the jacket so its not such a big deal.

Too hot, not well ventilated and not waterproof. How useless is that? But as it is Goretex it is really strange that it was not waterproof from new and that it was never. Goretex provide a lifetime warranty on waterproofness, so why did you not claim about that? I am asking as I am/was interrested in this Klim Latitude. Thank you for your info

I purchased the Badlands suit a few years back and really dislike it...Pants really uncomfortable waistband...Jacket much to cumbersome and heavy...I wore it just a handful of times and gave uo on it...for sports touring riding I have a Aerostitch Transit leather & Goretex lines...supremely comfortable, protective and waterproof. For adventure and offroad riding I go with the Mosko Moto and Adventure Spec layering philosophy...love the Adventure Spec Linesman pants...Alpinestars motocross Dakar Rally style lightweight protective top for back, chest, arms and shoulders works great...add a down Jacket, heated Vest, and Aerostitch super lightweight waterproof breathable top and rain pants to handle wet and cold weather. Using this system can travel super light, be comfortable in very warm to cold weather, and be well protected
