Klipsch’s Reference Premiere system aims to deliver some serious bang for your buck. The technology behind some of its ultra-high-end speakers has trickled down to the Reference Premiere series, offering the company’s best sound for the dollar yet. The over-the-top system featured here runs $5500, and that includes towers in the rear surround position, which is completely unnecessary (but, hey, we were really going for it here!)
We used the Klipsch RP-280F ($579/each) for the front left/right and rear surround channels, with dual 8-inch drivers and a 1-inch Tractrix Horn tweeter in each. For the center channel, we got the big boy: an RP-450C with four 5.25-inch drivers and 1-inch horn tweeter. The side surround channels were held down by the RP-250S, with dual 5.25-inch drivers and 1-inch tweeters each. And finally, LFE information was belted out by two gargantuan R-115SW subwoofers, with 15-inch drivers and 800-watts of power each. Total system weight- 480 pounds. Total system cost- $5500

Sure that let's you tell the difference between good and bad sound, but you still won't hear the details that make up a different speakers unique tonality, so hearing them through KZbin's compression would simply be satisfying a few people's emotional urge. No professional speaker reviewer demos sound for this reason.

WOW!! 2 subwoofers?!!? Nice set up!! :) I was lucky enough to inherit my uncle's Klipsch tower speakers which were top of the line back in the 80's when he bought them. They're one of my most prized possessions. I absolutely love the sound of them. So I can only imagine what Klipsch's high end speakers 30 years later sound like. Maybe some day I'll be able to experience that, but in the mean time I'm in musical bliss every time I get to listen to my music through these wonderful speakers. Klipsch rocks!

+Tick Tock ..... Dude I bought 5 of the RCX-4's (Centers) 2014 models a while back when a company was selling due to old stock..... Paid $60 each, but now I wish that I could have bought more of them at the time. They are absolutely awesome even though they are a Center Speaker, but can be run as mains also cos of the power handling. So you can't go wrong for buying the new edition unit, just the price will bork a few people until they realise their worthiness. I hope I can get something as good or better myself soon, even that set would be the last I'd ever have to purchase. Though might be time until I get my money aside to purchase them.

Awesome to see a review of this system. I'm grabbing a 7.2 package that includes a receiver, two rp280f, the 450c, two 15" rp subs, and four of the bi surrounds. just shy of $5000. a good deal compared to buying everything separately. Going in my basement with a 125" screen and PJ. Good thing my wife is on board or she'd divorce me.

Why oh why do people continue to separate sub units. Anything below about 130HZ is omnidirectional. Take a lesson from professional sound engineers at a big concert. The many subs & infra subs are placed just in front of the stage, usually starting at the centre working their way outwards. They dont usually place subs either side, under the line arays.

I see that you have your left and right front speakers and the subs next to them and I noticed you have one closer to the TV than one of the front speakers and one further away from the other front speaker. I have a 5.1.2 system and I have always heard different things as to where to place my sub, and that is with me just having one sub should I place it closer to the TV than my front speaker or should I place it further away from the tv than the front speaker, my concern is that if I place it closer to the TV than my front speaker is that it will drowned out the sound coming from the speaker next to it. If you have any advice on this issue I would like to hear about it. BTW I don't have a large living room which is why I'm not running a 7.2.4 system and for the size of my living room my sub is way overkill, it's a Klipsch reference 400watt 12" sub.

I wont go all out with the RP 280F like you guys did, i will be going with the RP250F as my room is small. I am now reassured that Klipsch really does deliver top of the line good quality speakers. As far as Recievers go, ill be waiting for the New Onkyo TX-NR 747 "THX" certified AVR review from you, i have my eyes on it to go with the my soon to have klipsch RP250 home theatre setup. +z32PureHardDance Oh! Yeah! I have a Klipsch 9.2 setup in my living room using a 160 watt per channel Yamaha digital processor to push them and running sony blu-ray and the sound is off the fucking hook Amazing for DVD movies and DVR viewing although I would like a little more overpowering sound when running some of my older concert DVD"s but I love and it gets the job done. I am running 2 600 watt Klipsch subs, 2 300 watt fronts, 1 250 watt center, 2 200 watt rears, 2 200 watt surround rears, and 2 150 watt satelite surround rears, and when I crank it the art on the wall rattles and the neighbors a block away always come running with booze because they know I am throwing a party ...lol PEACE!

My theater will definitely house a Klipsch speaker system in the future. My current Infinity Kappas are aging and not entirely gracefully, but they're good enough for now. They'll have to last a couple more years until I can afford a Klipsch system anyway. This is mostly the system I want, but my room is relatively small, so I'd downsize the rear surrounds to match the sides, downsize the subs to 12s, and add 4 in ceiling speakers for full 7.4.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS X capability! That should still cost less than $5000, which is an absolute steal!

+acm3 345 Sure, but with the company being bought by Audiovox, who knows where they are heading. I also don't know how the reviewer can call this system "over the top" with $ 580 each front speakers and surrounds in an age where $5000 center channels are almost the norm. Hell, in my second system, my surrounds were $2000/pr in 1994 and my center channel is $2000 and my surround backs were $2000 new and my sub is 21 inches. I would call it a decent average setup. This guy must only review "inexpensive" gear.

I can only imagine how bright that system sounds. Titanium horn loaded tweeter with solid state electronics and all those hard surfaces can't be a good combination. I'm currently using a pair of KLF-10's with Crites tweeters powered by an 8 watt 300b set tube amp and it sounds so much better than my Anthem MRX receiver. Same goes for the Klipsch La Scala's , KLF 30's and Heresy 2's
@davidhoover2446
@davidhoover2446 8 жыл бұрын
That's actually a great price. BTW if anyone out there has a wider room, you can increase horizontal dispersion and decrease phasing by standing the center channel on end. The best sounding thing to do is to have a center channel speaker match the main left and right speakers, but you would have to have the space for that.

I bought'em used for 250eur in mint condicion, one y.a. and they play along with the great Pathos "Classic One Mk II". I shall replace the Klipsch caps for the much, much better Mundorf MCap EVO Oil Capacitors and the Mundorf M-Resist Metal Oxide Resistors. Hi, I bought Rp260f,rp440c,rp150,r110sw. 1.I love rp440c.good mid,high and low frequencies .vocal is nice and clear,Can use as Left and Right.135 watts. two crossover frequencies 500hz and 1500hz. 2.rp150 high and low frequencies are low when compare with others. 3.rp260f is good if u set the crossover in to 80hz. front grill need more support .It always keep a 3mm gap in the top. I tried this with Onkyo txnr 809 and 636.Harman Kardon,Denon and Yamaha. feel good with Yamaha and bore(not detail) with Onkyo. nice with Denon 5200.

You should always go as "all out" as you can get. No bookshelve speaker is going to make an action scene let alone music sound any good. You need definition and balance, all frequencies from all angles! Plus, in a big room it just looks sad having small speakers all over the place. I have Jamo S608's in the front and S606's in the back. They all have sidemounted subs (10" and 8") so there's no real need for seperate ones. I don't have a center speaker, but that's just because I don't like how they look in my TV furniture. These four speakers (powered by an Onkyo TX-NR509) are by no means reference quality, but my "4.4" set eats any premium home cinema set with bookshelve speakers and seperate subs for breakfast. So yeah, I really like what you guys did here!

I'm wondering why the new Reference Premier line is a bit less in money than the older RF82ii's I bought. They run about 100-200 less than they did a year or two back. I know the center has smaller drivers now, went down from 6" to the 5.25", so that justifies a price drop. That being said, from the reviews I've read the newer towers out perform the older ones. If Klipsch can do this all while dropping the price, that's awesome. Buy a set, I love mine.

@@thegoat164 Actually what you said was that Klipsch was a "hair" above Bose and I don't know any serious person that would basically say they're equal as you allege. You may not like the harshness from a horn tweeter but that doesn't mean it gets thrown in with a bose system because of it. There are a plethora of legitimate videos by reputable reviewers on here that say Klipsch has some impressive products out in varying price ranges. Sure, there are nicer sounding pieces out there and I welcome you to name a couple and the price for comparison. I stand by my assertion that you'll be blown away by the difference between something like a $4k lifestyle 650 bose sitting next to $4k worth of Klipsch speakers, they're really apples to oranges...you simply can't put both in the same category really.

Polk audio subwoofer 10, and 2 cheap jensen center channel speakers with dual 8's each ( I hope to upgrade to Klipsch surrounds someday, I need about $1500 ) However my system sounds pretty good for being a cheap setup. A Behringer UCA-202 USB adapter is also a good inexpensive way to connect a PC/laptop to AV receiver for true 7.1 or atmos surround sound. I use an inexpensive Nvidia GT 610 graphics with 2 HDMI connections to my 60"-TV and the other to my PC monitor display which is a 32-inch TV. works Great for 1080p.

I would like to know if it is a good idea to add a pair of RF-7 II to this system and use them for music and as front L/R for movies while moving RP-280f to the sides.

I got a room with a size of 300 x 350 centimeters. I was using Logitech Z906 and I was so satisfied because my room is that small. But, I'm crazy like you all who are watching this video and I purchased Edifier S760D and the improvement was on whole other level.. But who says I won't purchase these for my (I repeat) 300x350cm sized room in a few years? Why not...right? Worst thing that can happen is I get kicked out.... or the floor collapses.

We don't have Klipsch here in the UK, but I've always thought they look cheaply built compared to the speaker market here in the UK. I mean these Klipsch speakers LOOK menacing on the outside, but I feel like they use the thinnest bits of wood and very little insulation on the inside. Like if you was to knock on them with your knuckles, it would sound really hollow. They just don't scream quality like you would get from Monitor Audio, Dali, Kef or Bowers&Wilkins.

I have a Pioneer Elite Sc-07 and some older klipsch speakers klf 20 and Sp1 powered 8 towers with a kv-4 top of the older liner center channel. dual 8s with a over sized tweeter. How much was the receiver and blu Ray player you had for your klipsch? what did the receiver push power wise. I wish i had one of those 15s! wow. I also have a Rw12d sub. they had to re design the amp on those speakers as I went through several and paid alot of money to fix it until they actually up graded the amp. but the speaker sounds really good on my Sc-07

How can we hear the sounds of the mobile phones, pets (dogs & cats), dolphins, earthquakes, so on, come from the ground up in the movies? I think we should make the ground speakers for those sounds. 🔊 🔊 🔊

You can look up Dolby Atmos Home Theater Setup, which Dolby published as a guide. In that document, Dolby indicates if possible always go 4 Dolby Atmos speaker setup, as the 4 speaker setup will always give a more complete sound than 2 Atmos speakers. (There are 2 guides, one issued in 2015 and a second one issued in July 2017).

I really want to uPgrade my home theater system I bought back in 2011. Yeah I know, it a Dinosaur system. I have a Onkyo 7.1 channel receiver that came with 6 speakers and a sub woofer and a EPSON 8350 projector, so yes I need a Dolby Atmos sound system. I can't afford to buy both projector and sound system together so I was wondering if this speaker system will work with my ancient Onkyo receiver OR do I need to upgrade the receiver also. Having said all of the above, I do intend to upgrade my projector and receiver but I'm wondering which to do first - speakers, speaker / receiver or projector - for that Dolby Atmos experience. Of course I realize that my current receiver probably won't deliver the full Dolby Atmos effect or maybe not at all but I gotta start somewhere.

Klipsch’s Reference Premiere system aims to deliver some serious bang for your buck. The technology behind some of its ultra-high-end speakers has trickled down to the Reference Premiere series, offering the company’s best sound for the dollar yet. The over-the-top system featured here runs $5500, and that includes towers in the rear surround position, which is completely unnecessary (but, hey, we were really going for it here!) We used the Klipsch RP-280F ($579/each) for the front left/right and rear surround channels, with dual 8-inch drivers and a 1-inch Tractrix Horn tweeter in each.
