The RF-7 III is the latest Reference Flagship Floorstanding Speaker made by Klipsch. How does it compare to the previous RF-7 II and the original Rf-7? Over the next few weeks, we will be doing some comparison videos between the three speakers as well as a complete audio review of the RF-7 III Speakers.

@@Youthman I got them home today and they are already amazing, even though they aren't played in and I haven't tried different placements either. I love the detail of the horn and the speakers have amazing energy and a huge sound stage. I sat down to listen to them for the first time after work today and suddenly four hours had gone by.

Thanks Youthman! I have waited for an unboxing and audio comparo to come along ever since I saw Mark Casavant at CES last year giving us all a sneak peek ! Thanks Gary. I know Klipsch has sent out the RF-7 III to a few others for review but I haven't seen any published yet. They may wait a few weeks before publishing their thoughts on how they sound. I too notice the many features from the RP Series. In the photos, I didn't like the new rubber horn but it looks great in person and it makes a lot of sense as the plastic horns sometimes resonate. See you around and thanks for watching!

patk2 I’m not sure I understand your question. Movie theaters use way bigger speakers like the Klipsch Cinema Series. www.klipsch.com/pro/cinema/behind-the-screen. Most people won’t use them in a home because they are ridiculously huge and pretty ugly. Neither of those matter for cinemas because they are hidden behind the scream so it doesn’t matter how big or ugly they are.

Your video is going to be very helpful. My Klipsch speakers will arrive on Mar.22,2019. This includes four RF-7III, an RC-64III center channel speaker & R115SW subwoofer. My main surround sound interest is with surround sound rock music remixes, and not so much with movie soundtracks. My rear speakers need to be able to reproduce deep bass, especially when I'm playing SACD's with vintage 4.0 "Quadraphonic" mixes, which have no content for the center & subwoofer speakers. i guess i'm dating myself (I'm 62), but those vintage Quadraphonic mixes are a blast from my (early 1970's) teenage past. I'm in the process of obtaining an entire spare home theater system to be held in pristine "Museum Grade" condition, and only to be used if equipment in my existing system were to break down or wear out and become unrepairable for lack of parts. This spare equipment will take me through my remaining years. So far, in addition to these Klipsch speakers, I've bought a spare Blu-ray player(Oppo UDP-205, modified code-free) and an Integra DRC R 1.1 A/V processor. As for further components, I'm hoping to buy them while my state is still 1 of only 19 states which does not yet have an internet tax. I'm hoping to buy a 7 channel power amplifier, a Sony OLED 4K television, a better turntable and a music server.(I presently listen to high resolution audio downloads, by burning the music to disc in the DVD-audio format). I may never need to hook up the Kllpsch speakers, though I'll certainly test the subwoofer, to make sure that its amplifier is good. I presently use JBL speakers which i bought 10 years ago at a 50% discount (ah, those were the days!). These include four S312II, the S-CenterII and the S120PII subwoofer(and I bought a spare S120PII for $299, after the model was discontinued). Early on, I learned that it best to keep a subwoofer in the standby mode and not turn the subwoofer totally "Off". I had the amp in the S120PII fail once. Since its repair, i always kept the unit in the standby mode(the sub turns itself "on" when it detects incoming signal), and I never again had any problem with it. I'm trusting that the two 10" woofers in each Klipsch speaker will reproduce bass as well (or nearly as well) as the one 12" woofer in each JBL S312II. My set of JBL's cost a mere $1709 from the late great J&R Music world in New York City. Free shipping to Fla and no tax. These days, most Hifi equipment manufacturers have the dealers under a contractual obligation to not discount. Indeed my new Klipsch speakers were sold at list price (by ABT Electronics in illinois) I was also able to act before possible impending price increases from Klipsch on April 1st, 2019. The prices of their "Heritage" series speakers is definitely going up on that date. I couldn't wait and risk possible price increases on the "Reference Series" models, which might have put these speakers beyond my financial reach. I hope that these Klipsch speakers are good. You and many others on the internet say that they are. I may possibly buy two Klipsch "Satellite" speakers(I.E. for the 6th & 7th channels in a 7.1 system). They are reasonably priced at $799 per pair.

Thanks Arek. The RF-7 II and RF-7 III both would be a significant upgrade from the RF-62 II. Not only would they provide much more bottom end but they have a much larger tweeter, not to mention it's a compression driver vs a standard titanium tweeter. They are just beastly!

I love Klipsch because I had the full 11 channel top of the line models in the Reference Premiere line however at this price point I personally would have gone a different route. The V3 is definitely an improvement due to the finishes and improved horn material design. For movie application it conquers in dynamic prowess. I sold my Klipsch surround sound system and started over with B&W 700 series. Just picked up a pair of 702S2 which I believe are significantly better then the RF7iii in terms of sound quality. I’m sure you will absolutely love the speakers though for they truly are excellent.

Just so that I can have the idea before hand.. You mentioned having the narrow part in the back end. Can I have it reversed so that the speakers tilt down abit? If not I will probably not have it on at all. The speakers would be to tall for my small room with low seating. Also is the 49" height of the speaker including the base? or would it be closer to 50"+ after full install

Those are some big beautiful speakers. I am considering getting a pair. The plinth on the bottom looks like it's much bigger than the speaker itself. Where I am considering putting them is pretty tight. I was wondering if the speaker would be stable without the plinth attached? Could you please do me a favor and measure the approximate dimensions of the speaker not including the plinth. Thank you.

Gary Karczewski I started out with Polk Audio, then purchased a pair of Klipsch CF-2 and heard soooo much more detail that I was blown away. I’ve owned several B&W speakers as well but still prefer the sound of Klipsch. I have an audio demo that will be live today at 2pm of the RF-7 III. Unfortunately, my Rode Video Mic Pro isn't the best microphone setup for audio demos but a lot of people keep asking for them so I do them with the resources that I have. I choose not to biwire as in my testing, I was unable to hear any difference. Unless you bypass the internal crossover and go with an Active Crossover, I just don't see the benefit. The LaScala is setup in my theater room in a 7.2 system. I might could do a 2ch demo of it in the future but the next several videos will be focused on the RF-7 III. Thanks for watching!

Do these RF-7 III work as Atmos Speakers? What amp / receiver do you use? I've have always heard that tube amps help Klipsch's sound less harsh? Is that so.
@Youthman
@Youthman 5 жыл бұрын
RF7 III cannot be used as Atmos as the purpose of Atmos is to have sound come from the ceiling. I use Marantz SR8012 with no external amp Tubes can add a warm sound. The RF7 III top end is much more refined than many of its predecessors. I don’t find it the least bit harsh

Just remember the sensetivity is around 93db, not 100db. Klipsch always "lies" about their sens. But a good AVR will do the job nut is not rec for best sound, cuz they are power hungry speakers that dip low

Hey youthman I have a question for ya. Where did you get the RF-7-3 from, klipsch, or a authorized dealer? I recently got mine RF-7-3 from a authorized dealer. I’m not mentioning any names, but mine were shipped via ups, and the boxes were puncture on the sides and during my unboxing I’ve have noticed deep scratches on the side of each speaker. I have reported this to my authorized dealer, and we are currently working on a new shipment. But I was told by my authorized dealer that shipping with ups, is not a guaranteed they will arrive mint condition. At this point why continue to ship with ups.. can I get your opinion on this please?

Yeah, the RF-7's tend to be quite bright and can be ear fatiguing, especially at loud volumes. The RF-7 II are smoother and the RF-7 III are likely going to be even smoother. Will have to wait till this Saturday to A/B/C them because my RF-7 II have Deang crossovers. Another friend is bringing over his RF-7 with stock crossovers so that it will be a stock comparison between the three.

Hi Rebecca. I invited several audio friends over where we compared the RF-7, RF-7 II, RF-7 II with DeanG and RF-7 III. The DeanG crossovers sound good, they just trimmed too much of the top end off for my taste. We all agreed the RF-7 III Sound fantastic and have a more balanced sound from the top to the bottom.

Cool Youthman, I would really like a direct comparison between the rf-7 iii, and the rp-8000f. Though I understand it may be hard to do since I am about 3 years too late, but I just felt like asking this, or if you could just give your opinion between the rf-8000f’s and the rf-7 iii, and comparing the center channels (rc-64 iii to the rp-504…)
@Youthman
@Youthman 2 жыл бұрын
The RP8000F are a great sounding speaker but the RF7 III is a significant step up from the RP8000F due to its massive 1.75” compression driver, wider sound stage and a more tactile response from the dual 10” woofers.

@@Youthman Just wanted to also ask, if you would you have an idea of the size of room each speaker would be great for? For the 10 inch driver seems a bit big, and I’m not sure if the room I will place them in, will need them, or utilize the large size as well, as their smaller rp line of speakers.
@Youthman
@Youthman 2 жыл бұрын
Regardless of the size of speaker, you should have quality subs to handle the lower frequencies so the more important component in my opinion is the much larger and higher quality 1.75” compression driver used in the RF7 III. My son had the RF7 II in a 12’ x 12’ bedroom and now has them in his apartment. The RF8000F can easily provide good sound for even a large size room. Mostly it comes down to budget. If you have the budget for RF7 III, they are a much better option. If your budget is the RP8000F, as stated, they are still very good speakers. If you are in the US and want a quote on both speakers, you can request one here youthmanreviews.com/sales/#quote

I have not had an opportunity to do any critical listening. That will take place this Saturday when I invite several friends over for some comparison testing between the RF-7, RF-7 II and RF-7 III. I have not A/B between the RF-7 and RF-7 II yet because my RF-7 II have Deang crossovers which smooths out the top end so it would not be a good comparison since most people do not have Deang crossovers. On Saturday, one of my friends is bringing over his RF-7 II that have stock crossovers so I don't have to swap crossovers in mine for the comparison.
