Youthman do you think is a good idea to match the RF7 III with the RP450C center? Because I trying to build a 7.2.4 klipsch RP set up, but I want the RF7III for two channel music listening and don't want to spend on the RP280F when I get the RF7III.

I am wondering what your opinion is regarding just using the Fronts plus a centre channel for movies and music? I don't particularly have room for rear speakers and thought along with good quality front speakers, a centre channel for vocals would potentially be a really positive addition to the setup vs just the two fronts? Obviously, the centre channel would have to be from the same brand and speaker range. My last home used to have the perfect room for setting up an awesome full Atmos system if I wanted, now I'm severely restricted on space :'(

Nice vidoe, as always. Ive been rolling with the 7iiis and rc 64 iii and man ol man. I dont think i can describe it any better then you did in in this video. I have the rp 280FA and put thos for surround back with Atmos and its a game changer and i have 2 ceiling Atmos up front as well. The 7 iiis are just amazing for 2 channel music. I have them pre amped with the marantz sr7012 and outlaw 5000. The sound stage is another level. No matter how much i highered them, they sounded good. Everything i listened to just sounded better. And lol they got some mean bass to them. Now I watched Transformers Last Knight with 64 iiis in 7.2.4 with the 2 R115sw and wow Youthman I would need you to be at my house to explain how good it was and what it felt like. It was amazing, one of a few moments in my life where i was speechless. My wife and kids have smiles all over thier faces which speaks a lot specially the wife, you know how that goes. Your the reason i got the whole hook up becasue of videos like this and the price i Paid for them was by far an easy call. Just for a note, the surrounds are the klipsch RP-240S.

So you like ATMOS that much huh? I never subscribed to the Front Height and Wide Channels. I think that was just marketing hype but ATMOS intrigues me. It's a completely different way of encoding how sounds are assigned in a room. I'm tempted to upgrade my receiver and add ATMOS and an amp to power it all but that's going to be a huge expense. Just not sure it's worth the investment. You have put together a first class home theater. Glad to be of a help.

Youthman Thanks for the kind words. I thought the same thing about Atmos until I tried them. It plays a big role of how certain sound comes out and makes it really immersive. You really look around as if it’s really there. Auro 3D is actually not too bad either. With auro3d it doesn’t matter how your speaker set up is, it makes it sound like Atmos in a way. It’s a process, It took me close to 5 years to get here so one thing at a time. One and I’m dreaming here lol I’ll have a dedicated theater room like yours which is insane. I’ve seen a video of how you got things set and it’s very slick.

Hello Mr. Youthman, I Just picked up a pair of RF7-III for my setup and was wondering if you recommend using an Amp for the RF7's (and possibly my 504c) for HT / Movie use or is an amp more specifically geared toward 2.1ch music use only for it to be beneficial? I am just trying to get the most out of my speakers seeing as they are top of the line. Current setup is as follows: Fronts : RF7-III, Center : RP 504C, side surround : RP-502s, Rear surround : R-625FA, Front heights : RP-500SA, AVR: Pioneer Elite VSX-LX503 I have no issues when watching movies (i stay around -10 MV on the AVR), and when I listen to music in 2.1Ch the music sounds way better than my previous towers, but as mentioned before, just wondering If I would benefit from a dedicated amp to the 2 fronts+ center, or just center, seeing as how they can be accept a way bigger amount of power, or if it would just be better to get an amp for my full system
@Youthman
@Youthman 3 жыл бұрын
A lot depends on the capability of your AVR. I have run 11 klipsch speakers off of a Denon 6400, a Marantz SR8012 and a Marantz SR8015 and they performed very well, even without an amp due to the larger power supply and the efficiency of Klipsch speakers. Adding an amplifier is always a good idea, but it might not be necessary. Just don’t expect a massive night and day difference by adding an amp.
@darkshadoku
@darkshadoku 3 жыл бұрын
@@Youthman Thank you for the informative response. That is similar to what i was told on the forums but I just wanted to get some more opinions before I just went for something else. Judging from that, I think if there is not a massive difference then I might just get a 2ch amp to add another pair of Atmos surrounds for the back and or a 2nd or bigger Sub and just call it a day (Currently using a single FV15HP Rythmik) an Emotiva XPA3 Gen 3 or the XPA DR3 3 ch amps but If I really don't need them then that means more money to use towards the rest of my system. Thanks so much! Appreciate it

Felt pads are exactly what I’m doing for my RP-280F speakers. One of the rubber feet came off before we got them in position for the first time. I also have hardwood floors so that is perfect for sliding them around for cleaning etc. They aren’t the RF-7’s but they are nice baby brother with plenty of punch!

Wade Pucel Hi. I actually love the 280s. I’ve always been the traditional receiver and speaker type. I don’t currently use a subwoofer and I have them hooked up to an ONKYO 2.1 channel receiver. No external amp or anything like that. I upgraded from a 6 inch Klipsch RF-62 IV. About 10 years old and I used them with a sub woofer. It was a 5.1 surround system. But then the sub woofer went bad so I set up my system for simply using the speakers. And they sounded awesome. Anyway, I don’t watch that many surroundsound movies and have always been music guy so I just wanted 2 channel stereo. To cut it short I think it comes down to a few things. First the 280s sound awesome and I can’t see anybody being disappointed with them. They are on sale in the walnut finish so the price was irresistible. The RF-7 IIs are at a good price now too. I was really considering them but from the measurements they are just too massive to really fit in to my living room setting. Plus from what I understand to really get the full use of the rear ports you need them to be at least a foot away from the wall. So I just didn’t have the room for them… They also look a little more retro than the new ones. But that would’ve been fine. Another thing is the 280s weighs 62 pounds. While the other ones weigh about 90 pounds. So moving them could be an issue. Depending on your budget and room size you can’t go wrong either way. Obviously 10 inch woofers would be better than 8 inch woofers… and Klipsch is a little generous with that measurement. The copper part of the speaker is definitely not 8 inches. But they sound big and have more to give. I really didn’t need new speakers but the $479 sale price was too good to pass up. There is a pretty cool video of a guy unboxing a pair of RF-7s on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6qvf6Gibtekd5Y

Shannon Williams good question. I can kind of imagine how the RF7 III sounds. I have klipsch reference bookshelves so I imagine the reference towers have the same sonic quality (extended bass/body ect). I am really curious as to how speakers like the Heresey and and the la Scalas sound.

@@premsaggar No way. I have the RF7 IIIs in my living room and two nearfield setups with Genelecs and JBLs in my offices. You need 2 meters absolute minimum distance from RF7iii to ear, better 3 meters or more. The sound of the drivers has to arrive at your ears at the same time. @Youthman - Two quick questions... 1: Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade my RP-280's to the RF7 III's, all things considered? Or, do you think the SVS Ultras would be a better choice? Haven't heard them in person yet... 2: Do you know anyone selling the RF7 III's for a good price? I know you're the master of finding great deals. 😉 Anyway, just thought I'd ask. Hope all is well with you and the family. Stay blessed! 😊
@Youthman
@Youthman 5 жыл бұрын
Hi midevil. 1. Yes, I believe the RF7 III is a nice upgrade over the RP-280's. "Is it worth the difference in cost" is always subjective as everyone's budget & disposable income is different. The RF7 III have a much larger 1.75" vented tweeter (which is to me where the magic happens) and larger woofers (for that extra slam factor). I was very impressed with the SVS Ultras but they are not caliber of the RF7 III. They are more along the lines of the RP-280F or somewhere in between them and the RF7 III. 2. I don't know anyone that has the RF7 III for sale. It's more difficult to find them used as they are less than a year old. But keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Offer Up and Let Go...a set might just pop up. Fam is doing great. Truly blessed beyond what I deserve.

One connected to SW1 and the other connected to SW2. In order to level match them I had turn off SW1, unplug it and plug in the SW2 cable to SW1 on the receiver. I re-ran the test and choose SW Level Matching in order to calibrate to 75db. I then re-connected both subwoofers as normal. I did not know this. WOW.

I found the setting for measuring a second SW in Audyssey. After talking to Marantz senior tech support we found under Audyssey setup, select "channel select". There you have options for what you want Audyssey to measure. 1 or 2 subwoofers, 1 or 2 surround back speakers and height speakers. The subwoofer setting was set to only measure 1 subwoofer. I changed it to measure 2 subwoofers. I will then re-run the test and see what it gives me. PM.

Hey man when I think of a Klipsch fan your name is the first that cames to mind. I have seen you HT and its fantastic. I understand that your wife does not share your passion for klipsch or maybe not with the same intensity and respect that but given the choice of any two speakers why didn't you go with la scalas in the living room and put the rf7 xx in the HT? I know rf 7s can do music well but surely la scalas beat them in every way possible... except beauty and compactness? Have tried la scalas with diffrent genre of music and do they fall short of the rf 7 ii or iii in any situation? I would love to see a video on this - rf7 iii vs la scala. You have everything to pull it of :) the views are going to go mental on this ...
@Youthman

Oh man, what a compliment. I certainly appreciate the kind words. To answer your questions, my wife didn't want ANY speakers in the living room for about 6 years when we moved into this house. She figured I had a dedicated theater room that I could do whawtever I wanted in and she would rather not see speakers in the living room. Several years ago, she said, "I guess you can have speakers in the living room.....but....". The "but" was she wanted a new living room set. BAM! Went out and bought her a new leather living room set that week. LOL. She would never go for LaScalas in the living room do to their size and they look old and dated compared to the RF-7 Series. Also, I'm probably 80% Home Theater and 20% Music so having the best speakers in the theater room is the better option for my setup. Oliver asked the same question and I just responded to him saying this... Is it possible? Yes. I would have to do it in the theater room since the LaScalas weight 120lbs each and have screw type speaker terminals so it makes it difficult to remove the speaker wire from the back. The bad part about comparing them in the theater room is that the LaScalas would be placed much higher than the RF-7 III and at completely different locations within the room which greatly effects how a speaker sounds. I can tell you that I had the RF-83 / RC-64 for many years and absolutely loved them....until I bought a pair of LaScalas. The LaScalas midrange is absolutely ridiculous. SOOOOO much detail. Vocals sound amazing. The LaScala outperformed the RF-83 in every way EXCEPT bass. LaScalas do not have the "slam" factor that the RF-83 or RF-7 Series have. They do not dig near as deep. But what bass they do produce, it's super clean and very low distortion. Hope that helps.
@ivayloipetkov
@ivayloipetkov 6 жыл бұрын
Youthman yeah the la scalas are big and rough looking. Never the less I decided I needed someting better for music and HT ( curently have rf 2 ii) so I just purchased gen 1 la scalas in prestine condition over a new set of rf-7 ii. I have heard both in a music room along with cornwalls and initially tought i liked the corwalls the most as they had the punch you speak of and did not even consider the rf-7 ii. From the conwalls I switched to the la scalas and the diffrence in the midrange is as you said very astonishing both speakers were hoocked up to a switch so when you switch between the two herritage speakers the la scalas win hands down ... so last week when I saw them on ebay for a honest price I pulled the triger and bought a pair of la scalas. My HT is in my living room so this is going to be .... emotional when they arive. I have a theory that if a wife allows la scalas in her living room then she really loves her husband more than anything. I call the la scalas the "ultimate marrige test". I have booked a surprise vacation for the misses and I and hope that this will sweeten her when the la scalas arrive :). I plan to tell her after she sees them in the living room. Thus far she only knows I am buying new speakers which are bigger than the rf 2 ii. If I pull it off i hope this acts as an inspiration for other oppressed men whose wives detaste the looks of the la scalas.

I really like the rf7iii but my ears can't listen too long or too loud before they seem much to harsh and have to shut them down. Since you are obviously very much into this series, do you know of any way to tone down the horns ?? Maybe a replacement horn or a capacitor or something to that affect ? I'm running them with two parasound amps, parasound pre amp and a separate graphic equalizer but nothing I do seems to help.. I haven’t ever considered myself an audiophile so I’ll share my thoughts. Going from my Harman Kardon HK3490 alone to adding an Acurus A200 (200 x 2) amp isn’t night and day difference but it does add a bit more bottom end, even at lower volume. Slightly better separation of musical instruments and more headroom so I don’t have to worry about running out of gas and get into clipping which can damage your speakers. Emotiva, Acurus, Parasound, B&K are amps I have owned or heard and would recommend them.

He has my contact info 😀 yes we have completely opposite results. In my room, the RF7 II has a more enveloping sound and wider soundstage (likely due to the much larger 1.75” compression driver and massive horn) and more bottom end slam due to the larger dual 10” drivers. It’s hard to argue with mere physics. I have also found that typically you get a larger sound from larger speakers. The RF7 II are considerably larger cabinet. I’m completely ok if Chris has had a different experience in his room.

The 604 S3 sounded great and had nice bass extension at low and mid volume but once I cranked them up a bit, bass became boomy and highs sounded strained. With my RF7 III, my ears will give out LONG before the speaker’s do. They actually sound better the more volume. Hope that helps.
