That Halcyon looks like it is crushing it! I've heard other people compare it against other pedals and it is goin the Klon thing and well beyond. Kudos and a killer sounding pedal.

You guys are killing it. Great pedals, great presentation videos, likable people. I'm a fan. Running DCX boost > Halcyon Gold > Iridium > Flint - and happier than I've ever been with my setup.

Another awesome ‘support’ video from Origin - great job! Thanks to your adaptive circuitry which I currently am getting used to on my DCX Bass (on bass AND GUITAR), I am discovering the volume knobs on my instruments! Just brilliant.

That rolled off clean tone sounds great. Definitely a nice little mod to the circuit.

Glad I got this (blacked out version). Hearing the Halcyon next to the real Klon makes me happy.

Question on the adaptive mode when rolling back the volume on a guitar equipped with a treble bleed circuit that retains highs. Obviously the Halcyon Gold will reduce the mid hump in this scenario but does it restore highs only as necessary by analyzing the frequency response of the incoming signal or is it a signal *level* based incremental treble "boost" that's going to double up on high frequency content that's already intact thanks to the guitar's own treble bleed circuit? Thanks!
@OriginEffectsUK Жыл бұрын
The frequency response restoration takes place entirely in the pedal and happens regardless of source. It's all about relative signal level. The aim of the Adaptive Circuitry is to restore your signal to as close to flat as possible. The restoring of the frequencies isn't addative. So with a treble bleed, it'll just restore it to whatever your guitar would sound like if the pedal were off.

I want to see a dual revival drive to take on the KOT. I know the original had two sides but they weren’t stackable. Origin missed a trick.
@OriginEffectsUK Жыл бұрын
The RevivalDRIVE products are best thought of as hyper realistic AIAB pedals, rather than overdrive pedals in the sense of a Bluesbreaker. As such, you can't stack each side as they're designed as amp channels and share circuitry. Not to mention stacking amp heads sounds bad. A seperate, more traditional drive pedal could be cool though.

With a clean blend and mod switch, I'd like to hear somebody try this on bass.

@@tonyvardy2399 too much honor for the analogman who just modified the bluesbreaker :D

They’d need two different shades of blue - a driver shade and a breaker one.

It sounds good, but when actually playing with a band, when you roll down the guitar's volume knob having that mid hump disappear may make your guitar also disappear in the mix. I kind of like for the mids to stay myself.

I now own 8 of your pedals, including both of your Halcyons, along with a plethora of boutique pedals... I can not afford any more of these awesome pedals. Furthermore, I have one more year to wait for my Analogman K O T and that's me for pedals forever. Nice vid btw. 😉

You sound like me! I'm 2 months from my KOT but I have the Origin Gold, DCX boost, Cali76, RD compact and RD compact hot rod. I'm going to uby the KOT because of course I am, but I wonder if I "need" it at this point with all these killer Origin pedals!

Welll tried - but Klon has a fuller and more broken in sound!!
@sachaleuenberger64188 ай бұрын
"broken in sound"? 🤣 wow! I am sure your ear is so well trained that you could tell the difference of the two pedals in a mix within a second.

The Origin sounds noticeable thin and anemic. As a fancy EQ to stack the Origin could be great, but as a flat out Klon , No. It is typical of modern takes on old pedals they think they are improved by removing the scares and warts of the old ones. If given half a chance they would make a a Big Muff that sounded like a clean boost pedal. In short they turn sledge hammers into feather dusters. WTF!!!!
@PickledDill907 Жыл бұрын
They literally sound the same... "Thin and anemic' is overselling any perceived differences by a factor of a million. Close your eyes at at most you hear the switchback changing pedal.

@@PickledDill907 I just finished my 2,685 th pedal review since 2014. I do not listen with my eyes. In fact I do not even like Klon pedals for personal use so I am not a fanboy. Furthermore I have already compared the Origin to the real Klon by doing an A/B from other reviews. I challenge you to put up another video in a blindfold A/B test using a looper and ask me to pick out which is which.

I'll add to this thread, rather than start a new one. I'm not a pedal reviewer, but I am a mastering engineer listening on mastering grade speakers, and I'd have to agree. On the transparent and high gain examples, there is a noticeable change, almost like a comparative tilt eq and hpf applied, where the highs have been pushed and the lows receded compared to the Klon. The Origin is also noticeable more spikes in the treble response. Interestingly for the mid gain example the Halcyon sounds comparatively rolled off at the top end, and a touch muddier in the low mids. both would be useful, but it would really depend what you were running them into I guess.

I’ve owned several revivaldrives and while I love the concept the reality is the top end is brittle and hard to dial in. I’ve noticed the same thing with all their pedals in reviews including this one. I thought I was doing something wrong but once I got a Kingsley, it sounded great immediately with no tinkering. I think they’re going down an unimaginative path with these reissues and should focus on finding ways to inject heavy iron warmth into their pedals (similar to what Kazrog are doing with their plug-ins)
@PickledDill907 Жыл бұрын
@@benjamin_hill To which I stand. If you need to be a mastering engineer to discern small differences between two pedals. (Differences that could probably be dialled out, and once in a mix will be un-noticeable) Then “thin and anaemic” is overselling any differences by a factor of a million.
